Face it.. Episode III is going to suck. The poster is nice. Or it would be if it actually looked more like Vaders Helmet

They even redid Vader's helmet to fit him and to be more symmetrical. It doesn't look that much like the original Vader if you look closely.

yeah, with that one word he removed over half the mysteriousness of the force... I'd say near 80%

A friend sent me the pic..

Is that even supposed to resemble a helmet?
Or as my friend put it: "A Vader helmet customised for Chewbacca."

edit:
wth is going on?
pic shows as a small invisible square for me.. before, I could rightclick it to get the adress and send to a friend so he could send me the pic over msn. but now, the adress suddenly shows as http://127.0.0.1:1025/bug.cgi instead.. figured it must be my firewall, but since I didn't do any changes to it.. wth?

Yup. There's absolutely no chance that Vader changes his helmet in the future. Nope. As soon as he puts that helmet on, it's the only one he'll ever wear again. Yup.

**EDIT**
Plus if you look at it, the distorted features are because of the smoke and the waving cape, the helmet looks pretty much right to me once you look past that.

I have to agree with Stick (god forbid it ever happens again) if you look at it as an amalgamation of Vaders helmet and a capey thing rather than just Vaders helmet it kinda makes sense.

Doesn't mean Ep3 won't be crap though...

One thing Lucas was never known for was subtlety.
OMG guys do you think that the cape is meant to signify Vader? Holy cow that is so cool.

The poster would have been a thousand times better if it only gave a hint of Vader in the folds/smoke.
• RuByRuBy Join Date: 2002-12-12 Member: 10732Members
It took me like a full minute to understand that was a cape and not some weird version of darth vader with Christensen's head sticking out of it.

The helmet was made exactly the same as the one used for all episodes 4-6. I think this movie will probably be the best one. Not because it will have the juiciest story and fighting sequences but because I am hoping the helmet will cover up Hayden's face so we won't have to see him "act".

Decided to see if I could make it a little less sucky. Got a nice shot of Darth Vaders face and merged it over the original. Only a five minute job here...

If you have the DVD trilogy and watched the bonus DVD you'd know it's done slightly different.

I just love how they captured the slack-jawed, vacant expression of his utter evilness.

Look! They even gave him an ubercool scar over his eye. No way you can be a cool villany figure without some superficial disfigurement that adds to your mystery.

You know, I figure it really is dead to me. I can't even bring myself to care enough to start bitching about Episode 3.
Ah well, Star Wars down, Matrix down; I guess the Lord of the Rings stands uncontested as the greatest epic of the 20th century now.

Please tell me you mean live-action movies only. Otherwise you'll have Infinitum yapping about anime epics, me yapping about the Fallout series and Planescape: Torment, and countless other rabid fanboys talking about how The Matrix will be more epic just because its super-duper-biggie boxed set selling this December will be 10 discs for an otherwise 3 disc movie.

Back on-topic....I really do hope Lucas is happy with the trilogy. I understand he made enough money on the original trilogy that by now he's got no need to worry about what fans think [read: whether fans will pay for movie tickets]. But if even he isn't happy with what he's done, that'd be just sad.

That is a good point. If it were my stories I would be pretty upset if they didn't come out just right.

I was painting a landscape the other day, and it was turning out quite well. There just was some small bits that kept nagging me. I went back and touched up a branch here, some coloration changes there, and when I was finished it was worse than if I had just left it alone when I said it was done the first time. I guess my only complaint with Lucas would be that while it is his decision, most artists know when to stop.

So I will critically attack his decisions and changes, but not his ability to make those changes.

Same here, Though I view it more on the lines of "I know this book is starting to suck, but damnit I need to finish it"

I will probably wait a few days/weeks until the little kids have been satiated and I can enjoy the movie without all of the cheering/applause/laughs of 4th graders. What really hurt episode 2 for me were all the Jerry Springer like comments that people shouted at the screen when Yoda appeared at the end. Hoots and hollers and cheers do not belong in a movie theatre.

(I have the same problem when I go to the ballet and some moron decides that he needs to applaud every damned time the dancer makes a leap or pirouette)

Mace Windu, along with many other members of the Jedi Council, is killed during the Outbound project. It's Admiral Thrawn who is responsible for their death (for those that read the Star Wars novels).

(The Outbound Project was created to explore the unknown regions of the Outer Rim, Chiss space pretty much. Nerd ++)

I don't see what's so bad about the picture. It's Darth Vader's cape, his helmet, and Haiden Christensen. Apart from Haiden Christensen's face in it, it looks pretty good to me.
