Personally speaking, I use romano's lastinv only becayse it remembers my last secondary weapon. Mighty handy for ultra-fast leaping away from a spawn point during a hive camp.

I don't remember seeing clientside lastinv in the changelog, but it looks like it has been done.

Some people still swear by romano's script though (plus it comes in handy if you do any form of weapon slot based scripting).
