Hrm, Fps Problems It Seems

I'm not sure what to blame here, the drivers or the card itself.
P4 2.0ghz
Geforce FX5200 pci 256mb
786mb ram
more then enough hd..

I get around 30-40 fps.. which is exactly what I was getting with my integrated card. I'm using the 66.81 drivers, but I've never had to deal with graphics cards before. Any suggestions on how to increase preformance?

Make sure you are using OpenGL in the HL video options.

    Also:

Did I mention I've tried most of the stuff on the forums.. and that I get 150 fps in cs, and 50 is cs:s

I'm thinking I'll wipe my ns config, and see what happens

Once again, you CANNOT get 150fps in CS. For half-life the fps is capped at 100 fps. Developer 1 just shows you what you WOULD get. \

I know the 66.81 drivers are the newest but alot of people say the older ones work better for the FX line of cards. 56.70 or something, I cant recall.

Also try the starstorm or omega drivers.

    Go here:
    www.guru3d.com
In the downloads section the site has every known nvidia driver that has ever been leaked or released.

Also try disabling HyperThreading (HT) in the bios because HL doesnt support it which means your only using upto 1ghz of your cpu.

I have a FX5600 256mb ram but with an AMD 2800+ cpu and it can get a constant 85fps. This makes me believe the problem is that HT is enabled.

    Hope this can help!

My comp doesnt have HT, so thats not the problem. I'm going to try the 56.72 drivers, I guess
