I won't be able to give you an answer, but I know that you haven't given enough information for anyone to help you. Did you install the drivers? Did you uninstall the old drivers? What are your computer specs? Is there any other information you can provide?

Did you put the card correctly in the slot? Did you put any extra power connectors needed? Did you check if all necessary connections have been made? Is the slot a correct one (it should if you didn't hear breaking sounds)

You should at least see something on your screen during the Bios loadup. If everything's fine, check if the fan is working. If everything should work and yet doesn't, there's a hardware problem.

Assuming that your computer has onboard graphics, and that you were using that before installing the video card, is the monitor hooked up to the video card output rather than the motherboard video output?

yes, my old gf works.. And my 'psu' is a chieftek 340w..

I'm not sure if a 340W is enough for a 6800GT..you might need to upgrade to a 400W.

Ya, but your freind is probably running a bottom range processor/mobo, only one HDD (harddrive) and likely no other devices/fans. A 6800 sucks up a minimum of 80 megahurtz, so you CAN make it run on a low wattage system, it just leaves practically no room whatsoever for other high grade components.
