-Athlon XP 1600+
-Creative Audigy Gamer, latest drivers
-ATI Radeon 9800XT, latest drivers
-Windows XP Pro SP1 and Windows 2000 Pro SP4
-DirectX 9.0c
-ASUS A7V266-E mobo, BIOS a bit outdated (going to replace)
NS by itself works great. When I try to use Ventrilo, however, NS randomly crashes within an hour or two, sometimes less.
In XP it usually happens when I alt+tab and someone tries to talk, although there has been one instance of it simply dying. In 2000, NS crashes within 5 minutes of play, and now it has gotten to the point where NS crashes even when Ventrilo is NOT running.
When I crash I hear a very loud static noise (like from your TV) with some added screeching and high-pitched whining.
What is most alarming is that in XP, when I crash, my system folder becomes corrupted and I am forced to reformat and install XP again, since the OS won't boot (I don't even see the windows logo). This is not the case with Win2000.
Any tips would be appreciated <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

www.skype.com is the best out there offers confrence calling with better mic quality. Downside theres no "turn taking" all live time and not good for getting people randomly joining a server [if you uses it as your main talk on your server] better for clan matches and frindly disscusion during a game.
