    It's a mechanical eject. If you've ever taken apart an CD/DVD drive you'll see how it works.

    there should be a little hole in the front bezel, poke a paperclip through it.

    Said hole works whether or not the power to the computer is even connected. It's there so you can get your CDs out even during powerouts. Don't worry, this isn't at all like poking a knife into the electrical socket... this hole is in fact designed for this purpose, and is completely safe. Shove that paperclip all the way in and push hard.

    There is never, <i>ever</i> a paperclip nearby when I need to do this.

    Additionally, on a Windows machine (at least Win2k), you can right-click the drive in My Computer and select "Eject." For future reference.

    Hmm, there are some internet pages that make your CD Rom open. One was called a Coffe Cup Holder <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> Safe or not, I don't know.

    A couple of admins on our NS server would open your CD drive from time to time. Creepy initially, funny later, then it got downright annoying, then they stopped.

    yeah some **** admin used to do that on a cs server I played on, except one time he did it to me and my leg was in the way and the drawer snapped.

    needless to say, i creatively destroyed his server <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    wait, what's the command to do that to someone in an HL game? =P not that I would use it, I don't have admin on any servers anyway.
