To me it is just a logical issue of trust. Anyone who I am confortable knowing a great deal about me should allow me to know a great deal about them. Anonomous information tracking isn't ethical in any scenario as far as I am concerned.
There are many more problems you could encounter thanks to the USAPATRIOT act.
