Mega-corporation Sci-fi Worlds

We always see these sci-fi worlds were governments are essientially replaced by gigantic space-faring organizations.

So, my question is, what modern day companie's logos do you think you'd see emblazoned on ships in such a future setting, where would their headquarters be (on a Jovian moon, Alpha Centuari A, et cetera), and what kind of firepower would they have?

Microsoft, obviosly, would be a major player, sporting some of the most advanced weapons, and sneaking some of its unmatched technology into just about everywhere. They would have a massive network of spies, both human and electronic. I assume they'd be based on Earth, or perhaps in orbit around one of the gas giants, or even on their own planet-sized station, simply because they could build it.

I think that Google might also become a space-faring mega-corporation. It seems like they wouldn't have a main office, but rather many tiny outposts, handling the transfer of information, whether it be digital information, physical packages, ambassadors, spies, et cetera. Basiclly, they would be like a toned down version of the Spacing Guild from Dune.

Edit: And then theres the AOL ships. They never really do much, because the move too slowly to even get off of the earth, and everybody on them are constantly whining and yelling unintelligable phrases at each other.

I know many of us would like to say Valve would be among them, but more realistically, I'd expect much larger companies like ClearChannel Communications, which would specialize in indirect warfare like propaganda, or long-distance communications interception and sabotage.

[edit]Actually, I don't think AOL ships would be so immobile. There'd be something about their design that makes inhabitants inside seem to multiply exponentially until the sheer mass of the ship gives it the maneuverability of a pregnant yak, at which point it'd hurl itself at enemy corporation ships.

[edit2]Definitely agree with below post about Coke and Walmart.

    Coke, Pepsi, 3M, Walmart.

Coke and Pepsi ships found to be exactly the same, while at the same time, Walmart crew members are locked inside the ship.

I wonder how Macintosh, with its overly friendly atmosphere would fare in battle if its conflict with Microsoft every got to the point of large-scale space battles.

Well the first guys in space would have the advantage, right? Lockheed Martin makes most of the united states missiles and aircraft!

AOL/Disney/TimeWarner on the otherhand seem to have quite the monopoly on consumer products. (Did you know Pepsi makes Swiffer?)

Ha, forget microsoft and coca cola

I vote for Phillip Morris Tobacco also known as Altria Group.
They own... lets see where to start...

Let just do food products to start with.
Kool Aid, Tang, Crystal Lite, All of Kraft foods, Oscar Meyer, Starbucks Coffee, jello, Cool Whip, Oreo, Milkbone, The Miller Brewing Company as well as over 40 other beer companies around the world, Miracle Whip, shake n Bake, minuet rice, life savers, altoids, planters nuts, Nabisco...

And thats only the beginning, You can add about 20 or more companiesto that list.

Then there are the 7 major tobacco/ciggarete companies they own.
Kinda like when they say that 9 out of every 10 homes own products made or produced by the Umbrella Coproration in the movie Resident Evil.

Phillip Morris/Altria Group make for a combined total of well over $110 billion dollars a year.

For compairison, Microsoft took in about $9.2 billion last year.

I believe in one of the red dwarf books, the mighty Coca-Cola fleet had a plan to blow up hundreds of stars in just the right geometry that they would be visible from earth as a gigantic glowing "Coke is it!" for centuries to come, thus ending the Coca-Cola/Pepsi trade war forever. The cost ran into trillions of dollars, but for a company as huge as coca-cola, it didn't matter.

It is gona be the zaibatsus (well, stealing the word for my own purposes). The big companies that have their hands in everything.

So coke, pepsie, MSoft etc wont cut it (As they specialise to much).
Apple might be able to do it (as they do both hardware and software).

Then (as was stated )there are the obvious ones like Vergin (they already have planes, comunications, and propaganda covered <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->).

Mitsubishi, LG, and other companies that fit the zaibatsu model also <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    AOL/Timewarner is sorta getting the idea <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Yeah it's the real giants that will dominate these fields, the behind the scenes ones that you don't hear their names every day. The names and slogans you hear are from companies that make singular products or product lines, groups like Altria and such pwn these because they powerbroker them like pawns. One day, soon, Boneparth will take Jones Apparel Group to such heights, then maybe I could be a general of one of the fleets. But alas, it is a fledgling now.
