Has Anyone Ever Considered...

<div class="IPBDescription">hmm</div> Has the thought of giving up games someday ever crossed anyone's mind?

I don't know. NS was a real addiction for me (its like virtual crack almost) and I thought I would never give it up. But now my college course loads are getting more intense as I approach my third year, where all the REAL core material comes in. MY fourth year is just going to be an implementation of what I learned during my third year. Anyways, I just think that sooner or later we're all going to have to give great things like these up.

Many do, but never for a good reason. Gaming is just good for you- not bad in any way, despite the MoA says.

I actually pretty much gave up games already. I just don't have enough time and there don't seem to be any super interesting ones to play. This time of year I really want to play Custom Maps for WC3: tFT, like Spellcraft and stuff. But my blasted bastage brother has it and he doesn't even play it anymore, because he's too busy moping about how he sucks at it and why don't I go down there and help him. Yeah rite, give me the game damnit!

So instead anime took it's place, cause I've found like 8 different goldmines for good anime. Ugh. Damn my weakness to being addicted to random things.

Yeah I got bored of Warcraft III, NS, FF11(I'll get back to it just need one of those breaks), and many other games. Now I started playing some games I haven't finish such as FF1-6 (I have FF1-11) and .hack/infection. Watching TV a bit more often.

.hack// infection? Could you by anychance show me where I can get the story to that game? I'm a relatively big .Hack fan, more Twilight than Dusk though, because Twilight was cartoonish and funny and Dusk was way too serious.

Oh god, thanks petco, now look at me. ^^

I don't play any games anymore really since I have to use this laptop seeing I am out of my original place.

I don't play NS much anymore, my time is occupied by working a full time job, and playing the new games I get or chatting online. As for giving them up, no, I doubt it. Video games are like football to others. I may not have a lot of time to play or watch it, but the time I do have, is spent with that.

I stopped playing NS even before 2.0 came out (but have been playing it from 1.0). At the time, I've also stopped playing games generally. They just don't interest me anymore, don't know why...

Although I've started going back to them recently, heh... They occupy your mind and prevent you to think of things that you don't want to. At least temporarily...

Until I bought GTA:SA, I hadn't been gaming regularly to say the least... Although when I get a decent internet connection up and running and have bought HL2 that will no doubt change.

I've been playing games since I was a wee one, up till the present day. I see no reason to stop. They're a big part of my life.

I stopped... almost completely from using my pc completely for about half a year. Then I discovered ThisIsNotPorn. Instant recovery.

I've more stopped playing specific games when I get bored. After a while, NS just stopped being fun, so I haven't played a real game of that in a long while. I just started a full time job, so my time's getting sucked up like crazy, but it's still nice to sit down and just chill for a while, massacring other people in an online frenzy.

I imagine that as the years go on, my free time will be consumed by business ventures and longer hours, so I imagine at some point gaming will be a rare commodity for me. But hey, who knows.

Yeah, I've thought about it. Well, I've thought of severely cutting back on the amount of time I waste on the computer in general (I don't game nearly as much as I used to these days). Though seeing as I'm almost into my third year of computer science, it might be a bit late...

Completely giving it up has never crossed my mind lol. But I don't play as many games as I used to. I hang out on forums like these.

The only game I really look forward to playing each time at the moment is NASCAR 2K3, Daytona rocks! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Do you wanna hear the truth?

...Well you can't handle the truth!

No, seriously - I haven't even <b>played</b> NS in almost an entire year - seriously!

I didn't have a lick of time to play games since I started my freshman year at USF. Now things are starting to wind down for the semester so I've been able to fit in a few hours of gaming every now and then. I'm not sure I could ever again dedicate the amount of time that a game like NS required, maybe over the summer or something, but gaming just isn't much of a priority anymore.

I don't ever see myself giving up gaming, I just don't have the time to be as serious about it as I used to be.

After I quit EQ after a 6 month social-life destroying, grade killing addiction, I promised to never play an MMO again.

    Damn you, World of WarCraft!

Yes, just today after I realized that I got into a heated arguement about the different properties of game controlers and what one is better. I've never felt so low and stupid in my life. I realized that games are just games and that they should be taken that way.

have you guys ever played games to the point where you just constantly think about it and can't focus on what you're doing? Or you dream about it?
I think my roomie told me once, after i played ns for 12 huors straight, that I mumbled "not this map again!!!" in my sleep.

I dunno man..its like the more you play, the more hooked on it you get. Like to the point that you don't even want to do anything else put play (not even go eat b/c you don't want to waste game time). Yep that's what happened to me for the first year of college and my grades took a hard hit. Fortunately i'm still here. My parents took away my computer but that didn't solve the problem b/c i could still play on my roomate's comp. But i'm not really into wc3 that much...at least i think so...i'm starting to get that feeling again...NOOOOOOO games are gonna ruin my life.

I think it's a natural part of life for gamers to start having less time to really get into video games and become the "casual gamer." Yeah, sure, they'll probably try and get 100% in GTA or MP or beat Halo on Legendary, but that doesn't mean they'll spend ALL their time doing it. You start finding other things that interest you, and you start doing that instead of using that time to game. Be it family, friends, or other activites. I think that most of the true gamers out there either become pros that play to make money or become game reviewers for various websites or papers.

Games are a reather healthy release if you yourself are healthy in mind and body. You can get frustration out, scream at the tops of your lungs in a battle cry as you plunge into a group of enemies with a sword and some grenades, keep your mind sharp solving the various puzzles or learn to better manage more things at once. Everything in modesty.

I don't have as much time as I used to and, come february, what little time I have will go out the window and I will need to make some sacrafices.

I don't need to eat... dunno how the girls will cope without me though? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Games are too good to not play, I may not have the time I had but I will always play.

Mmm my mummy is addicted to Spider Solitaire. Its the complex physics and lack of repetition that make it so exciting. The visuals...those fireworks when you win...wow, must go play, bbl.

wow dude... you're dad r0x0rz man.

my dad doesn't even play games. he said that in college he played this one maze game for 3 hours straight. After he beat it he realized that his mind became numb. From that point on, he vowed to never play games again and wanted to dedicate all his damn time to studying (he studies all this complicated engineering crap EVERY single day, in addition to working, and once said that studying was a fricken vacation for him). Ahh damn it i think i should learn to be like him.
