A Dream I Had Last Night

I had a dream last night, and part of it was about this story. Is it a story out there somewhere? I don't know...but I dreamed this.

I'll make it short. I'm not going to make the story all pretty and storylike...just tell it how it was in the deam.

There was a girl that grew up out in the mountains. She lives to explore, pick flowers, and fish. However, she grew up with scars from abuse and an accident when she was younger. She was always afraid and sad to look at herself in a reflection. She was was too afraid to talk to people because of how she looked.

One day, she found what she told herself was a secret lake. Although she explored the mountains everyday, she had never seen this lake. The lake was beautiful, the scent of flowers filled the air. She saw a large rock that was sticking out of the lake, and a few smaller rocks that lead to the rock if jumped to, one at a time.

She sat down enjoying the cool breeze, and caught a glimpse of herself in the water's reflection. Scarred and ugly, she just stared at the reflection. A tear formed and dropped into the lake, causing a small ripple and distoring the image. As the image became clearer, she saw a glow from under the water. She looked closer and could no longer see her reflection. What she saw was a beautiful spirit that came up from out of the water. The spirit had a face of an angel and a glow of many beautiful colors.

The spirit spoke. "What's wrong, little girl?" The girl replied by telling her about herself, and how she is scarred. After a few minutes of explaining, the spirit spoke up and said, "Beauty isn't always a physical appearance. Come, I'll show you." For the rest of the day, the spirit showed the girl many things.

She showed her a poor family, that had nothing but were very happy with what they had. Although the house was made of wood and very dirty, and the food was scarce, the family sat together at dinner in happiness and family talk as they ate what little they had. "That, is beauty." said the spirit. The spirit also showed a widow women, very poor, but very kind. When those more fortunate than her got into some sort of trouble, she would go make an apple pie, and bring it to them. One day, of the families that she helped sat down and thought about the widow, and bought her a week's supply of food, and made a special dinner for her. "That, is beauty." said the spirit. She also showed a family. Although life was rough, the daughter always respected her parents. When the parents needing something, the girl would always respond with yes, sir and no, sir. "That, is beauty." said the spirit. The spirit went on to give many more examples.

At the end of the day, the girl and spirit met just a small walk away from the lake. The spirit explained, "Beauty isn't always a physical appearance. Beauty is love, respect, honor, happiness, and loyalty. What is inside one's self is what makes them beautiful. Do not lower yourself to such low levels and depend on just what others physically see." "Now, who is the most beautiful person in the world?" the spirit asked with a smile. The girl responded with a revealing smile, "I am." "You see..." said the spirit... "you are beautiful. Go back to the lake, and meet me at the place we first met."

The spirit dissappeared, and the girl ran as fast as she could to the lake. She jumped the rocks towards the middle of the lake. She got down on her knees and looked down into the lake. There, she saw a beautiful and wonderous face. Strange, she thought, as she saw no glow coming from it. It took a moment, before she realized that the face she saw, was hers.

I don't know many people who dream in an omnipotent third person. And I know even fewer people whos dreams have morals.

    Did you dog die too?

You forgot the part where the dark screaming horror tore at your flesh rending muscle from bone in a bloody streak of searing pain... then the bit after where you woke up screeching in terror until your lungs burned and you passed out ^^

Third person dreams are cool, although what's even more interesting is when you dream you're watching a movie and then afterwards the events in the movie start to occuring (which has happened to me at least twice).

Unusual dream, but I think it would make an average-good children's book (only w/ good illustrations though).

Do you usually have dreams that detailed?

I thought people were supposed to dream of being naked at school, not a novel. Did you like read something, memorize it, then regurgitate it in your dream? That could be it.

I have occasional third person dreams...Generally they're video game like scenarios though. One I remember: being a Jurassic Park kind of dilophosaur and spitting blinding lugeys at people; and one being Indiana Jones-ish and jumping on alligator heads, Pitfall like.

...I suppose most of my dreams are actually 3rd person omnipotent, because I tend to have cutscenes of weird stuff occasionally. The dream described here makes me wonder why people say dreams only take 5 minutes or something short like that. I still remember dreams that take at least 15 minutes to play out fully in my head...so I don't see how they could really be that short.

    ...I suppose that's a bit off topic.

    Haven't seen it.

I didn't mean a real movie, btw - I meant one made up in the dream.

Well, an apple pie isn't much help if, say, I'm being attacked by wild dogs. Wild dogs don't like the taste of apple pie. They like meat pie.

    I've never had a 3rd person dream.
But once, I had a dream where my dad had a moustache and he was smiling. I got scared for some reason :o (this was when I was like 3 or 4).

    I don't think I've ever heard of a third-person dream either, it's kinda... wierd.

And how did you know it was a 'cool breeze' on her face? You must've really been absorbed into that dream.

I influence #include's dreams by doing things to his body while he sleeps. He must have dreamt that part when I fanned his face.

The part where I dip his fingers in water came later.

I dream in third person once in a while, but I usually don't realize it until I wake up... For instance, I couldn't possibly have been in the house on the top of the hill in one instance, and then the next instance be 100 feet up watching a UFO blowing up the house and worrying that my family was getting killed... but it felt like I was until I woke up and realized those facts.

In truth when I was little I had what's known as 'lucid dreaming'. That's where you're perfectly aware that it's a dream and so within the dream you can totally influence and remember what happens. Back then my dreams were all third person and it had a huge long epic story running through it with a big cast of weird characters I'd made up and relationships... wow I miss that @.@

Apparently you can train yourself to lucid dream intentionally.

Now that I think back, I remember having some really cool 3rd person dreams based on stories I was told as a kid. I remember somewhat vividly dreams with a roughly modified story of Pilgrims Progress that happend in third person. A few dreams I acctually get massive waves of deja vu whenever I relive certian events within dreams because I had some of the coolest dreams ever as a kid.

I wish my imagination was able to reproduce half of the things I dreampt back then today, just so I could experiance those kind of thrills again.

That happened to me one time in a dream, and so I chose to throw myself into a hurricane.
