View Source Command Disabled In Browser

On the computer where I work, the View Source command doesn't work in Internet Explorer. I can click on View, then Source, or right-click and choose View Source, but nothing comes up. I also tried putting view-source: in front of the url in the Address bar, but it just loads the page normally. It isn't important for me to be able to do, it's just an annoyance. Is there any way I can view the source for a web page? The computer is running XP Pro, and I don't have admin access on it.

Make sure you check your options (Options > Internet Options or something, I'm not on IE) and set your HTML editor to notepad or wordpad.

That answers the question. It is set to FrontPage, and it won't let me change it to Notepad. I tried resetting them to default settings, and it said it couldn't do that either. Oh well.

That might be your problem right there. At our college all the IE tabs in the options are gone except general.

I just found out that I can view the source. I have to open FrontPage, go to Open, and type in the web address there.

BigMadSteve, it's amazing how many things on this computer are viewable but not changeable.

There is an easy way to veiw source on a webpage
It also involves higher security, awesome plugins, and tabbed browsing

    <a href='http://www.mozilla.org/firefox' target='_blank'><img src='http://www.spreadfirefox.com/community/images/affiliates/Buttons/120x60/safer.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' /></a>

Yeah, you go get a job and try to install programs on their computers. See how fast you get fired.

CF, do you know how many people on these forums with a job have installed stuff such as IRC at their job?

Actually, installers simply won't run on the computer (I tried installing whatever it is that's needed to play Insaniquarium from popcap.com, and the "Do you agree" box wouldn't even pop up.) I love Firefox, but it isn't an option (I actually considered saying that in my original post).

If I could install it, then it would be fine. I actually work at the front desk at the dorms where I used to live at my college, a pretty uneventful job. Since I am basically in charge, no one would care (and if I was worried, I could easily keep people from even knowing).
