    I finished installing HL2 and HL:S from dvd in a matter of minutes, now I just have to wait for the 20 some odd minutes it takes steam to update through my universities stupid firewall.

    Well I fixed my problem, or atleast my first problem. Now I get random crashing, though random as in: whenever one object hits another at very high velocity (once when pushing a heavy object out of a high location, another running that hover thingy into a wall at full out speed). Anyone else get similar problems?
    Thing is, I can't view the error message because I have to end task hl2 then the message just goes away :/.

    Installation of Half-Life 2 Retail Standard is required before continuing. Please insert your Half-Life 2 Retail Standard CD/DVD into the drive and select 'install' from the autorun menu.

    Which is exactly what I can't do. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd-->
    I figured it out.

    Being the avid CS hater that I am I chose to not install the piece of crap called CSS. For some reason that was the reason why it would not install properally, so I have had to infect my computer with this disease and will just have to uninstall it ASAP.

    Good God. Does anyone know what steam is acctually doing when it is "Unlocking HL2 Game Files..."

    I think mine is stuck, it has been at <img src='http://swiftspear.0x01a4.com/Img/Random/SteamLoadingThingy.gif' border='0' alt='user posted image' /> for about half an hour.

    It says it's creating local game cache files, how resourse intensive is this? since I belive I'm under a cap of less then 1KB per second.

    FYI, I hate my univerity and thier godforsaken practice of port filtering.
