<div class="IPBDescription">how long will it be?</div> assuming that the sdk is released within the next 1-2 weeks, how long would it probably be before a mod is released? im actually more excited about upcoming mods, than playing hl2 itself, thb.
Maps and models and such can start right now. The game code stuff will have to wait a bit, which is too bad, because it's sort of teh trickiest part in any new engine. So it still could be a bit. I wouldn't expect to see any sort of serious mod release for at least a month beyond just goofy changes.
If they're standard deathmatch ones then I'd say they'll hit pretty quick but things with more advanced rulesets (Round-based, objective-types) will probably take longer to convert. Course it's all guesswork seeing as nobody has actually seen the new code and therefore has much clue how much needs to be changed to make old code work with it =3
For brand-spanking new ones it might take even longer but I suspect the results would be lots better as they're not using antiquated features o.O
