i know, the hl2 threads are gettin old, and i'd ask this on the steam forums if they were working for me but they're not...

i installed hl2 and downloaded some new update or something and wanna play. however, when i hit properties under hl2, it says that 100% of it is downloaded, but it tells me that it's not ready to be played in offline mode...

does anyone else have this problem and have you fixed it? i only have 56k and one phone line, so i dont wanna be online constantly to play hl2. i'm really sad.

    HL2 content threads are old, tech support might be boring, but its always welcome.

    Random guess: maybe it's still downloading? Check the bandwidth usage (monitor). If it's being used, then it's probably 99.5 or more, rounded up to 100, but not really done.

    Try connecting to the internet, starting HL2, then alt-tabbing and disconnecting. (or just pull your phone cord if your computer is finicky about alt-tabbing).

    Log out of Steam, and log back in. I had the same thing, a quick restart fixed it.
