<div class="IPBDescription">2 good proggies</div> A few months ago I desided to get me some spyware removal tools.
I chose "Spybot - Search & Destroy" and "Ad-Aware SE".
Now I just came across this article (linked by Spybot SD). Seems I was right all along.
Ad-Aware SE has 2 versions, personal and professional. For the pro you gotta pay, personal is free but finds less.
Spybot SD finds alot less then Adaware SE Pro, but it finds ALOT still. THIS is a freeware project going somewhere.
even if you just get ad-aware SE personal instead of pro, it still removes some spyware. Also FOR SURE get Spybot SD.
And pls.. ppl.. DO INSTALL.

For the paranoids here, the links to the sites of these proggies are down here, since some lesser "spyware removers" kinda fake there site names.

a reminder, to my opinion (judge yourself) the IMUNIZE option from Spybot ownz, yet I would not use adwatch from ad-aware. I think programs should not run to kill a few adds now and then, but spybots one seems to be a tad... less hars on the resources

Oh, and that damnable "WildTangent" spyware has returned. At least the files are there, but it doesn't show that I am running it. For everyone who remembers my intrinsic and almost primordial fear at seeing the Godzilla Incarnate of adware that refuses to leave and can rise again like Lazarus.
summary:
if you are using IE, use these programs to remove any adware/spyware, then switch to another browser.
I also cleaned up lotsa comps in my line of work, trust me, I also found these to do the job quite nicely since the day i got em.
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- Ad-Aware
- Spywareblaster
- Hijackthis
use these with Mozilla FireFox for the near perfect FREE Spyware protection.

It still applies. Fix up their mess and drop them a different browser. Since you are admin, restrict their access to iexplore.exe. It'll make your job easier.
if you are hugging the scan button yet another time cause another same damn user refuses to freaking learn you get upset, I know I did.
So just repeating the word.
I no longer do that kind of admin work. I had it with big networks, I now just go by ppl, making housecalls. So I have jack to say bout what browser they run.
Also I am staff of a forum service, and I can guarantee that in all these thousands, most use IE. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
/continue surfing with firefox.
if they even bother to google for it, they prefer to nag it does not work, refuse to search, nag more and blaim all but themselves.
And if this puzzles you, think how many times do we get stuff asked instead of them using the search option?
