The Naming Requirements.

I hate whining like this...
I understand fully the reasoning behind the changes, and I don't contest them. It's a good idea. I don't want to see ~!#~~ jumble-trash either. The only thing that concerns me is the number restriction. I could understand if you just cut them out entirely. That'd be horrible, but I'd get it. Restricting it to one digit only seems to kind of odd, though, if you're going to have them at all. You'll still get 1337, (or rather l3et, which is even more annoying IMO) and you cut out a bunch of very nice names people might want like, for instance, 88Keys or somesuch. There are many names with numbers in them which are not at all hard to read or pronounce and which have actual reasons for putting numbers in them.
So yeah, you've probably guessed I'm posting this because it concerns me directly. I can't claim not to be acting out of self-interest.
I've had the name 007Bistromath (or Bistromath007, in evil, nasty, awful places that don't allow leading numbers) at every single place I've ever been too for years. I can hear people on the other side of this screen chuckling at what a pathetic nerd I am for saying so even now, but that name isn't just a handle, it's a part of my identity as a person, and means something to me, not because I'm a huge Bond or Guide fan (I am) but because I've carved out reputations with this name. It's me. And I'd kind of like it back.
Like I said, jumbletrash bad. 4R53NU6637 is not a person I want to meet. But cutting it down to one both misses the point and makes things more of a hassle than I think they should be. I think that a slightly less restrictive rule regarding digits would be nice, perhaps four maximum, or making them all be consecutive for ease of reading and typing.
It's probably too late to do anything about it, because I don't know how coding works, but it's something I'd really like important people to consider in more depth before the site goes completely public.

/me joins the whining because I think you could allow at least one of those "special" characters.
And you are... um... "Speacial"!
Obst Gemuese
because it lacks any connection, nor
Obst and Gemuese
because it is too long + bound to english, while
Obst und Gemuese is bound to german.
ObstGemuese is the same as the first, just nonsense.
So I had no other choice.
It isn't that great when such a "requirement" kills off a whole identity
"Obst y Gemuese"
At least we're getting this done now, before the community is much bigger (though I realize that's not much consolation for you guys).
Onward!

I cant change my name again. Some lowbie guy took my base name and posted 4 times with it and now its his, I cant get it. And so im screwed with not being able to get my original name or anything else.... Great... Im just loving this new site. *Rolls eyes* Im so happy its here...
Btw 34% and 4.2% are pretty big difference... Im am for ever stuck being Hologram0 for the rest of UWE? thats just encouraging me to go somewhere else... no offence.
Well.. i found a new name.. but i'd rather have the 2 in there
but people don't see, to have any probelm with my new name, unlike my oldone, where almost noone could say it corretly
I would've liked to be able to change my name but its not the end of the world.
Just one question, will we ever have the chance to change our names on a mass scale?
or am i just stupid and dont see where to change it
1. The handle is an overused banal nick, so the "owner" saw it fit to just add some senseless numbers instead of coming up with something original.
2. The numbers are a part of the name and might have sentimental value to the user. However, the numbers don't make any sense to me and therefore just becomes some unaesthetical obnoxious addition.
That's mainly why I dislike numbers in names and generally in written language. Thats why I think this is a great naming policy change.
You will get the ability to attach personal or clan titles to a new title location at some point, but for now just be thankful that the new site is up. You can't change your handle in the NS forum once you have it set without a whole lot of hooplah, so do us all a favor and keep information that is partial to change every 6 monthes out of it.
thanks a lot!

I thought you were allowed one number?
And i've got this awful space now, rather than my old N3-
I'm only lucky I managed to snag my in-game name. I would have been downright cheesed if that was taken.
I hope this name thing isn't set in stone. (IOW, at some point, allow a human to judge the worthiness of a name, rather than a machine.)
