<div class="IPBDescription">What the title says</div> Hello,

I am getting the most evil lag/choke ever. I have no idea what is causing this and I'm about ready to shoot the cable company. I have Cable internet and everything else works great with it. I even play other games with no problems. I can play CS and TFC all fine. When I start up NS it works great to... to a point. When a server starts getting to its fullest is when I start getting crazy lag/choke. I will be sitting in MS or Hive and I'll get 5 6 choke no real lag, but when I encounter a bunch of friendlies, enemies or a mix I get nailed with like 70 - 100+ choke. I don't have any of the HL ports closed, and I don't have any other programs running on the same ports or at all really. I've shutdown everything on the computer besides HL/NS and It still gives me massive choke when I go on large servers.

Can any one help?
Thanks

Daimen.

Yes I spelt choke wrong inthe title.. give me a break it was early.

The only reason i could think of is that u have an entry in one of your ns related cfgs, that changes your network settings. (this would at explain why it doesnt occur with other hl mods)
So i suggest that u scan all your cfgs. Other than that i cant ofter you any help, unless u could specify your problem.

Make sure all your rates are correct and you don't have anything that would hog bandwidth running.

Cfg stands for configurations. The extension for a configuration file is ".cfg".

But if this would be the prob wouldnt cs have the same prob??

But still ive made a check and i have no progs running thats "hogs" the bandwith.

Its just when ns runs and the server starts to get full or when friendlys are around.

this happens to me to on every NS server even when I get ping from 50-130... whenever I get close to an enemy player not structure I get choked aswell and it's hurting me badly (weird thing is I just reinstalled NS yesterday and this is the firt time it ever happened to me)

I had the same problem except I was jumping from 50 to 500. It had never happened before a couple weeks ago. I tried reinstalling NS and adjusting any settings I could think of to no avail. Finally after I saw this post I thought to check my connection settings in NS, but I could not find them. The connection settings are in steam.

As mentioned above, my other games like CS: S worked fine. It was just NS that I had problems with.

When I checked the Internet connection settings in steam I found that it had somehow been set to 28.8 modem instead of dsl >768k. Must have been changed by one of the steam updates because I never look at the settings. Once I changed this setting my ping dropped to the 30's and stayed there no matter how much action was happening on the screen.

I don't know if this is what is causing your problems, but it was the cause of mine.
