Onus Doesnt Do Enough Damage...

...or turrets are too strong.
it kinda confuses me, a HUGE monster against a little tripod turret and it takes like 8 hits to destroy it, and of course theres not one, theres at least 8 or so.

whats the reasoning behind this?

Have to agree with you here a bit. I don't know if I'm not hitting them right, but I'm missing them most of the time with all aliens. But, practice makes perfect. As long as the Onos is backed up by a gorge with some defensive chambers, the Onos can just pound away and come back, and repeat.

im sure when the patch hits u wont see too many turrets so he should become a lil more usefull...not that he isnt now

    1. Resource bug. There will almost never be 8 turrets in any room anywhere ever once it's fixed. I'm really surprised that people can't seem to figure this out yet.

    2. Primal scream. You need 3 hives to get an Onos, so you have the ability to use primal scream. Use it. It increases your attack rate, your adrenaline recovery, and your movement speed. It makes taking out entire bases quicker and easier.

Primal scream lasts about 15 seconds =(
    Time to kill 1 turret.

    It also takes full adrenaline.

A turret dies in about 3 or 4 hits from Onos, with primal scream thats about 2 seconds. I can usually waste 4 or 5 turrets while it lasts, then run away to get my life back.

Also if you have trouble hitting turrets with Onus, try ducking it helps a lot.

You need to use Primal Scream. This will at least double your attack speed. Then, when you get close to the turret, make sure you look DOWN at it, so it's in your view. You'll make short work of the turret... probably will be gone in about 2-3 seconds.

Make sure you have Adrenaline as well.

Remember that you can't hit the top part of the turret (the actual rotating gun part) it just doesn't register hits there. Instead, you'll want to aim for the large metal base that the gun sits on. If you're unsure if you're hitting anything with the onos, make sure to aim a little lower than you normally would.

As for Onos not affecting turrets... the onos was made to take on turrets. You just have to use it correctly, like any alien in NS, don't expect to waltz into a base and take out all the structures in one go. Use primal scream to give yourself the advantage, as others have mentioned above, it makes your attack speed skyrocket so that, yes, you can take a turret out in two seconds.

As for charge, either charge doesn't affect structures or it doesn't do much damage at all. It's main use is against groups of infantry for which is it very effective.

I'm pretty sure you can target the rotating "head" part of the marine turrets. This is how I take them out as Lerk... I just peak over a ledge, or around a corner, then snipe them with needle-spikes until they're dead... with all spikes hitting the head part.

That's strange, while observing lerks I've noticed the spikes flying straight through the top part of the turret. And while parasiting buildings as a lerk, I've found I can't hit turrets with the parasite on the rotating head.
