To do that I purchased a digital audio cable and the advanced AV pack for the xbox, believing that my sound card (a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX - what I use with my headphones and laptop) would be able to use the digital audio signal.
Unfortunately, I have learned that the NX does not support digital audio (even though it has a jack for a digital audio cable -_-). Essentially I'm looking for something that would let me convert a digital audio signal into a 5.1 surround sound system, and have a volume control knob on it. It doesn't have to be the best, it just has to provide decent quality of sound. Other than that, I'd like it to be as small and as inexpensive as possible.
Anyone know something like that (and know what I should call it?)
