Help! Engine Problem With My Valve Games!

<div class="IPBDescription">Unable to enit shader system</div> Anyone can help me with this? Ever since I reformatted my comp, I can't play valve games like CS:S or HL 2. When I click on them, a small box comes up with the error word and says "Engine Problem : Unable to enit shader system"

HL 1 can be played, but it is in software mode, and some required files seem to be missing.

I haven't even downloaded NS yet, someone please advice me on what to do.

P.S : I tried, even an old game like Mechcommander 1 cannot be played

    Sounds like you don't have the latest directx and/or you don't have the latest video card drivers installed. Try those.

    I had the same problem with HL2.

    At first I did what Valve said to do (update Direct X, update drivers), but I had no luck.

    So I just deleted the HL2 and CS:S files and reinstalled. Worked fine.

    That would probably be the same result with the validate gcf files then.
