Wow! It's an I-Pod! And it has no screen! It has the feature to choose a song at random! HOW INVIGORATING!

The iPod shuffle is the worst thing that technology in this era can possibly produce, right after giant killer robots that look like 4 foot tall man-shrews. Seriously, don't buy it, you'll look stupid and it is a terrible waste.

It's nice for a low price flashbased mp3player. Of course the quality is no where near a JoS or an iRiver, but you get what you pay for.
I myself have a Twinmos RedRock(which is also a lowprice mp3player) and I'm satisfied. I would never buy a mp3player with rechargeable batteries since I want to be able to switch them whenever I want to (I use rechargeable AAAs instead), but I assume thats a personal preference.
If your budget cant afford any of those grossly overpriced "quality"players then I think that an iPod shuffle is a very good alternative. Its also dead sexy.
Uhh, I thought it was a good deal. 512 MB flash memory cost about $30-35. But this one plays song. I'm never interested in Ipod, but this one is tempting. And 100 or so songs are more than enough.
It's in the average price (and even slightly lower sometimes too) for 512 MB players with screens. You don't have a screen though, and that's a huge loss. Worth it? You be the judge, but I think not.

ipod shuffle has some potential, it's just a flash based mp3 player and there is nothing special about that. However you are paying a bit extra for that apple name and look
I personally think that this new thing is incredibly stupid. Firstly, why on earth would I want a music player that has no screen? I mean, not only that, but you can't choose what song you want to hear next, so if for some reason you have a song you got tired of a month ago, but you didn't take it off, you're stuck listening to it until the almighty iPod decides what song you want to listen to. I don't know about you, but I don't like gadgets making choices for me. I mean, isn't that what new technology is all about? Customization? Ingenuity? I guess iPod doesn't feel the same as the rest of us.
EDIT: I have an iPod mini and I love it to death...just thought I would say that so people don't think that I'm against all things iPod.

The iPod Shuffle appears to be a good player to use while exercising. It's relatively cheap, is small, and is cool looking. I wouldn't get one, but I'm sure some people will find it worthwhile.

I can only hope the first batch will have a bug that causes them to just repeatedly cycle through 4 different songs instead of actually shuffling. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo--> But to be honest, the ipod shuffle seems to only really appeal to people who only ever listen to the radio. Just load up all your songs, turn it on and bam. You now have the equivelent of a radio station, minus songs you dislike and annoying commentary.
Though I personally can't stand not having any real control over what I'm going to be listening to next..
