Sound Tweak?

    there is the "stopsound" command, but i never used it
    i think it does what you want

    Although "stopsound" will cut off many ambient sounds, it only works on wav files.

    Well, if you don't play on a server that checks for mp_consistency, I think you could just open up your ns folder and delete them altogether. You can also delete the onos digestion sprite or replace it with like pr0ns or something. Or just get rid of it so you can see out from the inside of the onos. However, you won't be able to play on mp_consistency 1 servers. Or something.

    I just use stopsound and listen closely. +$49 headphones ftw/l

    i play on 4 speakers. they do just fine in every freakin' game but NS. when i go rine i hear every skulk move from a mile. when i go alien whole squad of rines could run over my head and i couldn't hear them. i'm only able to hear rine if he's jumping although i'm using stopsound. someone got the same problem?

    Stopsound stops almost all ambients besides the ones that are built into the map. On top of that the sounds built into maps can be modified and pass consistency. You can either delete the ambients, or replace them with a blank sound file. Replacing them with a blank sound file will allow you to play with cl_allowdownloads 1. If you delete them, you must have cl_allowdownload 0.

    You can not change other sounds if you are playing on a server with consistency. There is really no need to increase the volume of other sounds once you remove the ambients.

    I cant use my low volume blink anymore :/
    I would have rather had a lower volume first person blink than new fall sounds. It is a nice improvement.

    That damn noise is so deafening, and I rely on headphones for 90% of my marine detection... I die almost every single time it plays.

    Is that doable?

    Yes. You could simply decrease the volume of those sounds.
    I'm not sure if this will cause problems with mp_consistency, though. It might.

    not in hl, not in other games. at first it was strange that i could hear skulks from a distance, but couldn't hear steps of marine running behind a corner, now it's annoying as it gets me killed all the time. i'm asking coz i'd like to figure out if the steps gamesound is too quiet or is it my cfg...

    i've got sb live 1024 + good speakers, turning eax on/off doesnt seem to help. i didn't modify any game sound settings, i play on defaults.
