Firefox is much better. It provides better protection against spyware and popups, and is less vulnerable in general to malware. It has many more features like tabbed browsing, an integrated download manager and is fully customizable with extensions. Plus, on the whole it's faster than IE.

For an extensive list of plugins, go to <a href='https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/?os=Windows&application=firefox/' target='_blank'>this page</a>. They are separated by different categories. I would recommend clicking on "All Extensions" on the left side to look at all of them, with a description. Or you can just look at the categories you are interested in. Personally, I think the Adblock extension is the best one you can get.

I install Firefox on any machine where my account has installation priviledges and I expect to use it for more than 15 minutes.

The main function of a stylesheet is to simplify formatting a web page, basically collecting all of the formatting information into one place. For example, you could define your <p> tags in a stylesheet as being 10pt red verdana. Now every time you would use a <p> tag in your web page it would be 10 pt verdana and red, instead of you needing to mess with <font> tags etc.
In the majority of cases the stylesheet will be a separate file from the web page, that the web page can refer to. This lets someone writing a web site simply refer to the style sheet on each page, instead of having to tediously format every single page.
www.w3schools.org has a decent intro to CSS, but there might be simpler guides out there.

Comments
99% of webpages work fine, tabbed browsin, uses MUCH less ram, Plugins, Safer.
Plus, you can transfer all your stuff from IE, like yoyr favorties etc too firefox very easily.
Only con i have noticed:
About 10% of websites have trouble streaming content to windows media player. No big deal though.
FireFox > IE.

I was frustrated when I browsed the web at the library, and realized I couldn't do the zoom in on their machines running only IE.
