Part one: obsene ammounts of grey lego.
OK. I am starting a little "art" project. Involving lego. The hopefull result is an immense battleship, with detail going down to individual sections/parts of the ship, including reactor, crew compartments, and so on. It will not be minifig scale, but it will be big enough. The detail would be enough so that I can create realistic looking battledamage etc.
Anyway. Phase one begins, which is planning, and aquiring of materials. I'm currently on the hunt for as much grey (gray) lego as possible. This battleship is going to require a lot of them. Hense, any info on where to get such lego, would be apprieciated.
I'm going for a Halo (don't flame my decision until you have read the halo books.) spaceship theme somewhat, so somewhat convential weapons over "magical technology". Any suggestions are welcome.
Comments on the sanity (or lack of) my planned project are also welcome xD
Here is my current collection of grey lego so far:

Eh?
In any case, you need to buy looots of grey Legos. Right now....I don't think you can even build a bridge with that amount of Lego.

damn, i shoulda thought of that
Yeah, it's called Vinyl spraypaint, or how Krylon makes it sound more exciting "Fusion". It soaks into the plastic as opposed to just sticking to the surface. So that it makes it seem as if the lego was initially that color. This I feel would be your best bet. Either A: assemble the whole thing then spraypaint it grey; Or B: spray all your legos grey to begin with<--might take a bit more time then A.

Do option A. If you do them all individually, you'll add extra stuff to the blocks and they wont lock together as well.
Just received 8 pounds more of lego , a major boost to my grey lego collection. Will have pics later after it has been washed and placed in something to show truely how much there is O.o;
Thanks for the help by the way
