LAKE JACKSON, Texas -- A Texas woman charged with killing her husband by using a sherry enema has surrendered, Houston television station KPRC reports.
Tammy Jean Warner, 42, turned herself in to police Monday on a charge of criminal negligent homicide connected to her 58-year-old husband's May 2003 death.
Investigators said she gave her husband, Michael Warner, a sherry enema even though she knew his health problems made it extremely dangerous for him to consume alcohol.
Warner's husband subsequently died of alcohol poisoning. A toxicology report showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .47 percent when he died, which is six times the legal standard for intoxication.
"That's extremely high," Lake Jackson Police Detective Lt. Robert Turner told The Brazosport Facts. "You're either going to be in the hospital or the funeral home with that much alcohol."
Turner said investigators believe Warner administered at least two large bottles of sherry to her husband.
"The (negligence) comes from the fact that she provided the alcohol in large quantities to him and that he absorbed it and died from it. She knew and he knew that if he continued to absorb alcohol -- drink alcohol or absorb it any way -- it would kill him," Turner said.
Turner said Michael Warner (pictured, right) was an alcoholic who could not swallow liquor because of ulcers and acid reflux. However, the detective said it is not clear if Michael Warner willingly received the enema.
"He was told that he could not drink alcohol or that he would die, according to the people that we interviewed," Turner said. "We are going to prove that she gave him the sherry and that she knew that he wasn't supposed to have any and that it could be detrimental to his health, and that she gave it to him anyway."
Turner said Tammy Jean Warner had not made a statement to police as of Thursday.
Police also charged her with fraudulent destruction of a legal document for burning her husband's will about a month before his death. She reportedly received more than $240,000 from his life insurance policy following his death, The Facts reported Thursday.
Warner was released from the Lake Jackson jail Monday night on a $30,000 bond.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Comments
Edit: Heh, she got out of jail by using his life insurance, and still had enough left over to buy a middle-class house... wow... Go America.
I can think of better ways to go
I'm going to go hire my lawyer now <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Where did that come from?
This reminds me of something in FFXI. Once there was a guy and his gf playing ff11, both high levels. Well I don't know exactly what happened but the guy went to his gf's account and then start dropping everything she owned. There goes 1000+ hours on equipment. Another story was a guy and his gf played. There are some other stuff like this too, but I forgot what exactly happened to make my post worth reading.
i disagree: if you think about it, cutting off a guy's dong is the first thing that comes to mind in the "ruin your husband's life" department.
pumping liquor into a man's anus: that requires much more thought, much more planning, and much more... sick...mindedness.

I don't know how common it is, but I do know that if you're giving someone an enema (for the purposes of pleasure), you're supposed to be very wary of putting alcohol in it, and if you do, it shouldn't be more than a table spoon or so. This will get you drunk, because the alcohol is absorbed directly into the blood stream without being filtered by the stomach and liver.
