Why Cant I Open Random Webpages?

<div class="IPBDescription">In both FF and IE??</div> WTH???

I cant open random webpages in ff and IE. Ie, i cannot access my hotmail accounts on both FF and IE. Cant access Gmail on both, and when my dad trys to go to allstate he can, but when he clicks on the customer service link he cant access it.

It keeps giving us either connection refused (ff) or Page cannot be displayed (IE) its the same pages on both browsers! WTH!!!

has this happened to anyone else? How did you fix it?

Are there some sites that consistently work, while others consistently don't work? If that's the case, I don't have any idea what it could be, besides maybe a firewall. If not, then maybe your ISP is having issues. I realize this post probably won't be very helpful, but those are the only ideas I have.

I had this, turned out to be an un-repairable virus. Ended up formatting...good luck

Check your HOSTS file. (C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc, I believe) Open it in Notepad and delete everything but the bit at the top that says "127.0.0.1 localhost"

Might be your ISP giving you DNS issues. Try: Run>ipconfig /flushdns
