Please.......... Quake 3 doesn't have that rush. In fact Quake 3 makes me fall asleep in boredom. Its about as fun as urinating into the wind. And it has just about as much rush.
Sure its fast paced but just because somethings fast paced doesn't mean it gives you a rush. Its all about how close death is. Something Q3 lacks.
Generally a rush comes from a time where your characters life is in danger or about to die. And Quake 3 lacks that section. Whereas having my PBR straffed by RPG's and all round MG fire while a teammate on the MG spams back while Fortunate Son blares out gives me more of a rush as well as defending an outpost from choppers, tanks and foot-troops. Or at least more of a rush than run round a corner, circle-strafe this guy, die, respawn, grab powerup etc etc. In fact I grew bored of the OMG CAMP RPG/Railgun/Insert Uberweapon here with Quake 2. At least UT attempted to do something else (Like balance the weapons so all of them are useful) And besides Instajib MADE UT that extra bit better. Or even sneaking into an enemy base to plant explosives. That ain't fast paced but damn its a rush.
If you want to carry on camping rocket launchers fine. I prefer my rushes with a little more explosions, ricochets and potential death.
So I'll stick with my PBR while playing War over the loudspeaker.
