Guys, I Need Help With My Girl =/
<div class="IPBDescription">Help me obi won kenobi [and NS forums]</div> Guys.. I need help with the things you all know most about: Girls.
Well, that was actually a lie. My computer has gone and screwed up. And 'The Man' is putting me down. <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Problem 1) "GUYZ HOW DO I FIX COMPUTAR DURR"
This morning around 6:45am [it wasn't hot until later in the day so it couldn't have been that as much, I don't think] I was playing World of Warcraft. Yes, yes I know. All was good [except for the imminent need to get ready for school] until - BLERBLEUBLEABLOOP... My computer makes some funky death rattle noises and my monitor suddenly loses.. not power, but images. It's like the power is on but there's nothing plugged in.
I suddenly smell the terror-inducing odour of burnt computer parts. I turn off my computer as fast as I can, and unplug everything before chucking my fan inside to cool it off. I didn't have time to check it out so I leave it unplugged, leave the fan pointing inside the open case for 15 minutes, get ready for school, and then I do that whole 'education system' thing.
So here I am at home - my computer will turn on, but there are no images going to the monitor. The smell of burning has gone, and upon a close inspection of the video card, nothing appears to be fried [like how stuff melts etc]. My video card was a Radeon 9800 pro 128mb, and I loved it as much as an abusive alcoholic father can love a rebellious, lazy son.
I'm going to go hunting around for spare video cards to see if it's the radeon's fault, but I don't know what to do past that. Basically it's just crisis management [I want to go back to playing WoW and not doing my homework] and I don't know what to do next. What happens if it really is the radeon? How do i tell if it's fried? What are the odds of getting warranty on something I bought from an online computer place? Why is angelina jolie such a giant tramp? I really have no clue.
Problem 2) "Durr comedian durr"
What does it mean when I get a warning from Blizzard?

How many warnings do I get before they lock my account? What are the chances of that happening, and how do i reverse the locking of my account should I accidentally tread on the foot of an insane, dorito-fueled GM again? Thanks. [I also hope the guy I was referring to when I said that was warned as well..]
Thanks for the help. If you only have 5 minutes to live and don't have time to solve both, I'd like for you to take preference for problem 1, if you could. Thanks.

i had that problem once, i was playing far cry demo and my screen suddenly went black and there's this burnt smell. Upon inspection, like your case, there wasnt anything burnt. So yeh it was my PSU. I bought a new one and its alright now.
:o
Assuming you do offenses of the warning category.
There are parts in there that can burn out without nessicarly powering down the fan or circuits... although unlikely it is possible...
also, ta Epidemic. i'm less worried about participating in the slave trade market now.

Here are some common modes of failure for switch mode power supplies:
<!--QuoteBegin-http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/smpsfaq.htm#smpssfmod+--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> (http://repairfaq.ece.drexel.edu/sam/smpsfaq.htm#smpssfmod)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->The following probably account for 95% or more of the common SMPS ailments:
* Supply dead, fuse blown - shorted switchmode power transistor and other semiconductors, open fusable resistors, other bad parts. Note: actual cause of failure may be power surge/brownout/lightning strikes, random failure, or primary side electrolytic capacitor(s) with greatly reduced capacity or entirely open - test them before powering up the repaired unit.
* Supply dead, fuse not blown - bad startup circuit (open startup resistors), open fusable resistors (due to shorted semiconductors), bad controller components.
* One or more outputs out of tolerance or with excessive ripple at the line frequency (50/60 Hz) or twice the line frequency (100/120 Hz) - dried up main filter capacitor(s) on rectified AC input.
* One or more outputs out of tolerance or with excessive ripple at the switching frequency (10s of kHz typical) - dried up or leaky filter capacitors on affected outputs.
* Audible whine with low voltage on one or more outputs - shorted semiconductors, faulty regulator circuitry resulting in overvoltage crowbar kicking in, faulty overvoltage sensing circuit or SCR, faulty controller.
* Periodic power cycling, tweet-tweet, flub-flub, blinking power light - shorted semiconductors, faulty over voltage or over current sensing components, bad controller.
In all cases, bad solder connections are a possibility as well since there are usually large components in these supplies and soldering to their pins may not always be perfect. An excessive load can also result in most of these symptoms or may be the original cause of the failure. And don't overlook the trivial: a line voltage select switch in the wrong position or between positions (possibly by accident when moving the supply, particularly with PCs), or damaged. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I was given warnings for arguing to random people and they had a hissy fit.
I was given the 2 three hours for saying F you see kay
I was given the second three hours for saying "WTS: [Maiden's Dildo Of Worth]"
FYI: They won't ever ban you 100% for swearing or harassment, they just won't. One elss paying customer for them.
More importantly, people can report you and will make sure the GMs upheld every petiteness of the ToS just to grief you. I know I did.
I mean, it's not even sending a letter, but directly talking to the GM, often opting with the easy way.
Without those rules, people like our famous CWAG (<3) could gain too much power.
Would you like to see CWAG on the spot where actually Lady Sylvanas should be? would you? WOULD YOU? :)
It's true. The powerguilds on my old EQ server did whatever they pleased. They'd steal kills, ninja loot, and generally be downright ****. The guides would just point to the "Play Nice Policy" and try not to laugh.
No, your hand is your girlfriend. The computer is just the aphrodesiac. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
