<div class="IPBDescription">Where To Shop? Uk Sites + Prices?</div> Time for a new motherboard and processor it seems.
I'm running a faulty AMD XP 2800+ (2.25ghz) CPU on a Asus A7N8X-X motherboard.
And now I need to get my system stable before I start my new pc course in just
under 2 weeks time.
So... I want something along the lines of 2.3ghz+ on a board that will support
that speed and will support a gig of DDR 133 RAM (slow I know but it's ok for now)
but I have no idea where to look at what sites are reliable.
Are these 64 bit processors (AMD 3200/3400+) any good or worth buying?
Whats the average price range for these things?
Any sites and info would be very helpful, preferably uk based sites and currency please.

Their prices are generally pretty good and they're also pretty fast to ship stuff out, on the whole, it's a good service. That is, however, until something goes awry. Their customer support is none existant, their staff are rude and condescending and i know of two people that have had to get Trading Standards involved to sort out their issues with them.
So make sure you check and double check that what you're getting is exactly right and entirely compatible with each other, because if something goes **** up, you're better off trying to get blood from a stone than trying to get decent customer support.
True that the current processor and mobo are "nice" but they seem to
be the cause of alot of hassles.
I (and several others, including 2 local pc stores) have tried countless things
to narrow down the problem over the past 3 weeks... 3 weeks!
We've been through everything from different Operating Systems, to different
video cards to different sticks of ram to different ram speeds to keeping a constant
eye on every temperature possible to monitor.
(As well as video card drivers, BIOS updates, mobo drivers, soundcard drivers,
reverting to onboard Sound/LAN.... and much much more.)
Even if only one of the 2 is fried then i'm best upgrading both and getting a worth-while upgrade. There's not much point in having a nice new mobo with a crappy old processor sitting in it is there?
Guess i'll have to wait and see but it's not like I have many other options at the moment.

I use both, both are pretty cheap so it's just a case fo checking whose price is cheaper that day.
My advice is to stick with the A7N8X mobo's they are most sexcellente and should support higher speed CPU's
