Not a very hard concept.
...of course if we would have let Mac Arthur do his job we wouldn't be having this problem at all right now, but that’s another story.
I think too many americans are of the opinion that the cause of the 2nd world war was that by giving in to the rising power (germany) England allowed them a very large advantage in the coming war, this theory seems to have been taken very seriously by the American leaders.
The fact is, attacking anyone who does anything remotely untoward will not help.
Iraq and afganhistan were mostly against badly equipped armies, and iraq is STILL a problem. NK or even Iran will not be as bloodless as these wars.
Having said that, something must be done about them, I expect nuclear weapons WOULD be used by either of these if they had the capacity to hit america from their current location, due to them expecting America NOT to use a nuclear weapon in retailiation (MAD) mainly because of the amount of ''innocent'' civilians.
I mean do any of you seriously think a nuke would be needed?
I personally wish the UK stay out of any conflict, for 2 reasons.
I dont think we should be the USA's lapdog anymore (bloody tony blair) this is not saying I dislike the usa, I just feel Tony Blair sucks up to george bush too much
And if a nuclear weapon were to hit the UK it would be a LOT more devastating than in the USA, the Uk is a very small DENSLY populated area
BTW saying you are the only country who should have nuclear weapons is stupid, big headed, and flawed.
With nuclear weapons around in ANY country there will become a time when one WILL be used.
its like people who think a terrorist attack wont happen due to security, there WILL be more terrorist attacks.

*COUGH* COLD WAR *COUGH*
And with the US involved war is the only solution, we've made that our own policy.
Indeed north korea as no oil to speak of so going to war is not a profitable venture

Hey, we never used them did we? Even though there were some nutcases screaming "NUKE EM ALL!!!" we didn't use them, nor did we sell our nukes to 3rd parties (read "terrorists") to do our dirty work for us. We can't be certain that most other countries would be as rational.
And yes NK is pretty harmless on a global scale, but do you think that fact makes SK feel any safer?

Eh, what? A more proper comparison would be "a guy threatened to rape a 13-year old, but didn't, so he's innocent (but still a jerk)". We rattled our sabers, but unless you're claiming that someone has edited history we never used the weapons we developed. We can't trust that North Korea would be as rational, and we can place sure bets on them selling their weapons to the highest bidder, who may use them for terrorist attacks.
Moral of WWI/II: Without threats, war runs rampant.
Hey you don't want to play our game, don't build nukes.
Not a very hard concept.
...of course if we would have let Mac Arthur do his job we wouldn't be having this problem at all right now, but that’s another story.
Britain + France: Don't you dare go into the Rhineland with weapons.
Hitler: I'm going to go into that area with meh weapons.
Britain + France: .....don't you dare occupy Austria
Hitler: I think I'm gonna assimilate Austria. Heck, they even want me to!
Britain + France: ......well...uh....leave Chechoslovakia alone.....
Hitler: Let's take a bite outta Chechoslovakia now....aww hell, let's take the whole thing
And so on. This is what happens when you just let people with aggressive intentions push you around. You obviously are missing the point of American disdain for appeasement if you think that we don't like it because it gave "a very large advantage in the coming war." No, appeasement started the dam war, or at the very least allowed Hitler to grow in power to such an extent that war was inevitable.

It'd be idiotic to invade Iran, there's just no reason for it, and if Bush DOES invade Iran then he will destroy the few remaining threads of credibility he holds onto in this country. North Korea, on the other hand, is a global threat; you don't know where those weapons may end up. Sure most of them would be smuggled into the US for detonation, but to think that Europe is safe from terrorists is foolish.

Only country eh? It seems that the US is NOT the only country with nukes: Britain, China, France, India, Pakistan, Russia, and Israel all also have nuclear weapons, and that's quite enough to ensure that no one country launches their arsenal.
