question about exercise and PC's
Some of you with better memories may remember that I'm a bit of a fan of Dance Dance Revolution, even going to the point of shelling out cash for a mat and playstation2-->USB adapter so I can play on my computer instead of pumping quarters into the local arcade.
Since then, I've kinda gotten bored of it. I'm not a fan of most of the J-pop music associated with the series. 90% of the time I get a custom song/stepfile, it's unplayable because it was made by and for professionals, such as that random 9-year-old who comes out of nowhere whenever normal people step up to the machine, and totally pwns everyone at the game.
It was a minor issue before, but since I stopped playing DDR and moved too far from my self-defense classes to keep participating, this has become more noticeable: I'm really out of shape. Sure, DDR is only good for cardio and not strength or flexibility, but at least my body was good at something when I played it on a frequent basis. I just started taking up breakdancing classes again, and my body is really noticing it.
About 5 minutes ago I found out about another exercise videogame. From previous experience, slapping down cash on something makes me more likely to stay with it. (Example: jogging is free, but if I were to pay for particularly comfortable jogging shoes, I'd be more likely to go out and jog so I can put them to use.) Can anyone here tell me whether this "Yourself Fitness" thing is any good?

OMG They have forums.
Ah...the good ol' days.
Actually, I think I have the dance/exercise game for the NES.
*dives into closet*
I just checked her website to see if she mentioned it, and sure enough there's a pretty in-depth commentary on it. I'll PM it to you; I'm not sure if she'd want a ton of links from a forum full of people going "OMG you're a GIRL in the INDUSTRY???"**

Our University Lecturer recently held a "Women in Computer Games" summit thing....
Incidently, the university lecturer in question is Mark Eyles, who apparently made such games as Ant Attack and worked on AVP1 O.o
