What The Hell?

<div class="IPBDescription">help!</div> So I'm writing a document and I'm trying to add a table of contents. Somehow I end up making all my documents look like the pic below. It's clearly a formatting thing where the P's are enters and the .'s are spaces. The question is.. how do I remove this crap!?!

If there is a symbol that looks like those P's on the toolbars, click on it. On the version of Word that I have, I was able to go to Tools -> Reveal Formatting, then check the box that said "Show all formatting marks" in the window that appeared to toggle the option. I hope that helps.

Also, it's important to note that it will not print out with the formatting symbols, so it's alright to have it there. It'll look prefectly normal if you print.

It will look fine, but it's annoying to have them show up when you are typing.

I hope it makes you feel good that I knew how to turn them off when they turned on by themself when I was five, without help from anyone.

yea but I didn't attempt to figure it out myself because I knew someone already knew the answer. Hence posting here gave swift responses.
