About a Honda Civic '94
I need to find out aproximately how much the parts of a Honda Civic '94 would be worth. The car has about 130,000 miles, and does not have working Anti-Lock brakes.

I ran it into a telephone pole today due to a narrow road, snow, and a school bus, and so it got bashed up on the right front side. The bumper is completly cracked, and pieces have broken off at the point of collision. The bumper is falling off in other places as well.

It's an automatic, and everything else works fine.

We're not going to spend the money to fix it because it would probably not be worth it, so we need to find out how much it would be worth to sell.

All the tires are still intact and everything... The front right headlight is bashed up, and the front left one got like pushed in because of the impact.

It really sucks to have a car die like this. I keep feeling like I should have done something different... I keep looking back though and seeing that there wasn't really anything else to do. I couldn't turn more or I would have hit the school bus that was traveling far too fast.... I didn't panic and slam on the brakes. I tapped them to try to have as much traction as possible, and would have missed it, except my car went off the cleaner part of the road into the part with leaves and sand and everything, and all the traction disappeared. You could actually see in the tracks in the snow. I was going fine, curving slightly, and then I just suddenly go straight. Right into it.
If I had been going 10 mph rather then something like 20 mph it probably could have been avoidable, not entirely sure.

My girlfriend was sitting in the back (without a seatbelt) and she got a bump on her head (but no concussion), and a scrape on her arm. My brother and I were in the front, both with seatbelts, and no injuries.

So yeah. Need information on the parts of a Honda Civic '94.

I'm not entirely sure what sites to look at or what to google for, but I'm going to try to do that now. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

This is about all the information I've retained from Personal Financial Management, but perhaps Kelley Blue Book can help you. Although, I think most of the prices in there are based on intact cars and not 'impact' cars.

    ...

    Hopefully that helps.

[edit: aside from that, if it still runs, you could consider trading it in. Some dealers take cars even if they're 'barely running' or if you tow them in - as trade-ins.]

All of the extra parts on a '94 civic depending upon model DX, LX, EX.. would be worth around 300, 400, and 500 respectively, if you can find a chop shop that will want them. Problem is unless there is a huge rice scene you won't find too many people wanting to buy used parts unless they REALLY need them. Of course those prices are based up on where I live and since I live in the middle of nowhere they might be kinda high foryou.

I believe that mine is an EX. Thanks for the info.

I doubt that he'd get too much even for a 'rice-heavy' town, given that it'd pretty much be cheaper to just buy a new one, than get any body work done. And given that it was a front impact, a rebuild and full check-over would likely be neccessary on any pulled parts.
Not to mention that no one worth their salt would be needing to pull parts from an automatic. :b

My dad owns an auto repair shop, so when he comes home for lunch I'll ask him about it.

Pfft.. don't knock the automatics now talesin.. after all my talon was an auto and I have easily taken down many of the other similar cars, (e.g. eclipse, galant vr-4, laser) that were manual without having to worry about overreving and/or throwing clutches, and/or transmissions depending upon various other specfications.

Although, I did state those prices would be the going rates for here in SF, SD. Again we don't have many people here so finding a vechile to be used specifically for parts would fetch a higher price then somewhere more populated I can only assume.

ebay is your friend. its the best way to gauge used parts on imports.

dont expect too much tho, thats a SOHC engine, and stock parts are normally what people are trying to replace. You can probally sell your intake, possible engine mounts, interior gauges and dash, steeringwheel, and maybe door electronics if they are in good condition. Just ebay 94 civic parts, and see what is selling.

auto's definitely have their use, but generally only in high Boost/tourque situations, like 450+, and even then unless you have a built tranny, you will get a better launch with a stick and a rev limitter like a HonData. As far as rice is concerned, its almost always better to have a stick, even at high tourque you can just get a better flywheel.

I'll knock automatics all I like, given that my little car has the number one spot (or did, before the engine started acting up) with 84 hp and a stick, as compared to three 120, 162, and 177hp automatic V6es, and even more L4s. The only automatic that I won't harsh on is the Pontiac Sport Shift, as I've seen what it can do on a Grand Prix GTP. And even so, my car will still soon be faster, though mostly due to the massive weight difference.

Then those people who have lost to you, did not know how to use their automatics like a stick with no clutch

Actually, one of the V6 owners did. He's currently rebuilding his engine and transmission, as he tried to use the shift-up-shift-down bit to keep revs high, after taking off in the lower gears. He still came in second, by four seconds. :3 (Half-mile)

I pity him then, although the fact your car doesn't weight anything I'm sure helped quite a bit

I have found, around here at least that if both cars have equal hp and weight, the autos almost always win unless there is another factor invloved be it drivetrain or whatnot.

Yes, I know a single mis-shift on an manual == lose.
    I am disreguarding those occurances.
