I Found A Bug!

and would like it to be corrected please
Every good marine knows that when you have motion tracking you use your mini-map to look to see if RTs are being attacked, where the next alien is, etc

When you are an alien, looking at your minimap is next to useless. If a structure is under attack it doesnt turn red, when you have SoF it doesnt show the marines (even if they are in SoF range)

I just wonder how complicated it would be to fix the minimap for aliens, I just feel it gives the marines an unfair advantage.

thats not a bug... thats just the way the game works. Structures that are under attack show up on hivesight... ya know... the blinking red dots... ya should check up on those every now and then... works wonders

I think Lawpark's problem here is that people don't always know the maps very well. If you see a dot blinking red on your screen and it says "Power Access III" or something, you can look straight at it and check your minimap, but you might not be sure which RT it is, exactly. It could be the one behind it or whatever.

Still, I think it's fine the way it is.

Well, when marine structures are under attack nothing shows up on the marine minimap either. So I see no reason to include this same thing on the alien minimap.

But rines showing up ont he mini map due to SoF (and with beta 6's sensory chambers) would be a fine addition.

I would say even that its unfair for marine to not know when something is under attack...hive sight is the best.

Even says WHATS under attack, instead of a stupid : base is under attack!

Sometimes I had a res node under attack far off in the map, so I don't care, at that point, when I hear base is under attack. Then a second later, my obs is under attack...still says same thing : base is under attack.

So I still don't care, and gg.

Pretty bad idea to ignore warnings about your base dying, in my opinion.
You know, respond or see what's happening.

Um, guys, it's not some huge game imbalancing thing. I would say it *is* a bug. It tells you via hive sight what is being attacked so why would it not show on the minimap? Not only do the red dots not always show up, they also don't tell you distance or the direction when you first hear it. It would be much easier to open up the minimap, see what's blinking and head to it than trying to figure out what exactly is being attacked.

... And those gorgies aren't the quickest peanuts in the turd.

if a red dot can magically show up in your face on screen then i think its possible for it to show up on your map.

if i had to choose whether to use the dots on the screen or things turning red on the map i would choose the map.

    Yah... but...

Isn't it kind of unrealistic for aliens to even have access to a minimap? I kind of like the whole organic theme running through the aliens GUI and a minimap just seems so... unorganic? it fits in much better with the marines.

Of course, does this cause an unbalance considering all of us are human players (although sometimes I am not sure) and could all equally benefit from a minimap?

Maybe alien's hive sight should be a bit more detailed IMO.

The reason why the aliens get a minimap is because it is the best representation of what actually happens in an alien. Aliens *feel* things. They'll *feel* that the res node is under attack and innately know where it is. We, however, as players cannot feel that so we have to look at our minimap.

    ^ Precisely!

If an alien even knows that direction, why doesn't it know the distance? If it knows what's being attacked it should know both the distance, direction, and probably some routes to get there. If it knows distance and direction, then what's wrong with viewing it as a map?

he does know the distance... Small red dot = far away, big red dot = close.

Not really. The dot size is not accurate enough, nor does it tell you direction when you first hear the noise, nor does it tell you what exactly is being attacked, nor does the red dot always show up. All of these things an alien would feel, so we should have some way as the player to see these things. Which would be the minimap.

Meh, for the record I like this whole thing, but it is not a bug so much as it is simply a feature that hasn't yet been implimented. I would prefer that the dev team spent time fixing gameplay issues that are broken to the dev team spending time on this however... This would be nice to see, but the system that is in place ATM is acceptable, even if it isn't perfect.

YOU HEAR: "ressource tower under attack!"
YOU LOOK: around, and locate the ressource tower (it is a flashing red dot)

proceed in the direction of the red dot. a prerequisite to this is that you know your way around the map.

    its honestly that easy.
