(anime Related Thread) Naruto Licensed
<div class="IPBDescription">Figured I ought to make a note of it.</div> <span style='color:white'>Thread concerns the anime known as "<a href='http://www.animenfo.com/animetitle,1072,afqppx,naruto.html' target='_blank'>Naruto</a>". If you don't know what it is, don't worry about it. Best not to get into it at this stage of the game. Unless you do a lot of Anime DVD buying.</span>
Also, don't whine about licensing in this thread. If you don't want to see a popular series get licensed due to popularity, don't download it and convince everyone else not to download it. Because popular licensing is a paradox based on people realizing you like something and making it official and locally available to you.
<span style='color:green'>Finally, don't dare to speak of illegitimate subbing locations here. You want to do that? Do it on your on time, elsewhere. Yes it will probably exist. Yes it is illegal. No it doesn't belong here.</span>

Official details may be found hither;
<a href='http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/pressrelease.php?id=851' target='_blank'>Anime News Network</a> - For a basic breakdown go here instead of the other link.
<a href='http://anbudom.net/' target='_blank'>[ANBU] Fansubber Group</a> - They recieved the original email telling them it was official, to my knowledge. <span style='color:red'>BE WARNED, RANDOM MUSIC PLAYS AS PART OF THE NEWS POST.</span>
------------------------
Anyways, for everyone here who watches the show and doesn't know, well now you do. And knowing is half the battle. I just can't wait until the eventual <b>P</b>oinless <b>O</b>nline <b>P</b>etition, I hope they do one just so I can see the various posts in it.

P.S. If this thread dies in obscurity, I'll probably take that as a <i>good</i> sign actually.

This means it is no longer free to download from the internet legally.
You have to buy them in what I would assume to be box sets. Most box sets that I have purchased averaged around the $20 mark and considering the length of the series, you are going to be shelling out some serious dough to get this show from now on.
That and bad dubbing and possibly low quality subtitles. If you were an [ANBU] fan and are used to that quality, then don't expect that any longer. We can't be sure what the licensing company's standards are, but it's best not to keep your hopes too high. It could be at a reasonable quality, and that is all I can ask for.
BTW: If me signing my name after my post was odd, sorry. But why did you sign your post with my name...?
Just unspoken trust between the anime companies and fansub groups.
Am I the only one who don't watch the Anime version of available manga? (naruto, one piece, kenshin) I felt empty, no surprise, no joy, no uppity yippity feeling, nothing. Kinda hard to feel entertained when you already read well into episode 200 something.
mm.. that makes me sad. they did a wonderful job. fantastic series though.
you know.. to make the load easier, you and 5 or 6 friends could band together, each buy one of the dvds, and keep doing that. you can have yourselves regular naruto gatherings every week and watch a dvd. I'd imagine they would put three or four episodes on each dvd, sooo.. what's it up to now, 110 episodes so far? 110/3.5 = aprx. 32 dvds. 6 friends.. lol. that's still more than 5 dvds each. still, if you only need to buy one every 6 weeks i'm sure you can handle that. .. i don't know why i went on this rant.

True, it isn't entirely legitimate. As far as the Berne Convention is concerned anyway. However it is far more legitimate than your average Region 1 DVD rip, that I think we both can agree on.
As for watching the Anime version of a Manga, I don't tend to buy too many mangas these days because I'm on a strictly limited budget, so I really haven't had to deal with that too much. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

@Belgarion, yeah I could divide up the load between at least 3 friends I know of who watch the show, but we all go to different colleges. That would be hard to plan things around anyway.
As for how many episodes, it was on episode 121, or rather 121 is going to be the last available release from ANBU. Best get it now before distro is cut off completely, if you plan on getting it.
~And yes, I do find sig's outside of sig's annoying <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Instead of trying to get me to go over the nuances of it, why don't you give it a go.
Here it is straight from me to you, <a href='http://www.law.cornell.edu/treaties/berne/overview.html' target='_blank'>The Berne Convention.</a>
As for sigs outside of sigs, check my other posts and note that this is the first if not the only time I have ever signed a post like that. I did it out of formality. If you want to take issue with something that lame, I really don't mind, but take it up with one of those guys that signs like every single post not someone who made one singular attempt at it.
AnimeSuki doesn't consider it "licensed" fully yet.
<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin--> Naruto "licensed" by ShoPro Entertainment
On February 15th ShoPro Entertainment announced it was appointed the main licensor for Naruto in the USA. This has lead many to claim Naruto has been licensed. However AnimeSuki sees ShoPro only as a middle-man and not an anime company which releases anime themselves. As such we're not marking it licensed yet. Please note that this situtation may change at any time. Also the ShoPro "license" means Naruto is now much more likely to be licensed in the US, especially by VIZ.
( to clearify: this means ShoPro can now sell the rights to Naruto to another US anime company and until they'll do, we consider Naruto still unlicensed ) <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Revised look down a bit.
I just hope the dub will be ok.
In other words, Naruto is no longer worth legally acquiring, and since acquiring it illegally is just that, Naruto is dead to me. No matter, there are plenty of other options out there. Go read Blame! by Tsutomu Nihei.
