Having no idea where you live and what type of climate it is, a generic suggestion would be after the last dangers of sub-freezing temperatures have passed. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

okay. i'll just lightly water them once a week since they seem to be described as "dry" loving plants or some shatlander like that.

    yeah, no kidding!!!!

the winters here are at least seven months long or perhaps even more. I swear.

It's just a giant landmass. Imagine the moon. That's why I thought growing flowers might brighten the place.

You're shovelling snow 7 months out of the year, and I'm cutting grass at least 9 months out of the year. You make me appreciate Florida. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Im shure a snow blower would be a nice investment just as you have a lawnmover and dont hand cut the grass with scissors

Ornamental grasses, Azaleas, and Juniper bushes all handle extreme temperatures well. Try out some of them. The Azaleas will provide you with color, the juniper with ground cover, and the ornamental grass for textures.

I love Alpines, they go anywhere (dear God did I just make some suggestions for plants...). I don't know much about them, but the name suggests they handle the cold quite well.

I have a cute Alpine called Spike. He's really spikey. Alpines are great coz theres like a zillion different types, and they can be really colourful.
