rant
I am just boggled at the priorities of some people.

I have been helping a friend with finding a graduate job (she is in her final year). So far nuthin solid at the moment with most failing at the assessment test stage. (where they ask u these verbal and numeracy test).

So anyway JpMorgan replied to the application she made asking her to come to do the assement test/interview at their office at 9.30am 5 days from the day she received it. As usually she comes to me asking for help in preparing for it etc.

And then 3 days before (friday), she comes to me with a dilemma she has. She doesnt have enough time to prepare for the test/interview. Her reasons? Saturday she got to attend her brothers 1st bday family party and her best friends 21st bday. Then Sunday she has got a football match to play for (she plays in a university league). Monday she has got to attend a groupwork meeting and has the usually whole day classes.

Now first thing that comes to my mind (and most ppl) wud be to tell her to sacrfice one of those. But I know she won't. Family is important to her and that her new brother's bday. Can't ask her to skip the friends bday party as its her best friend's and 21st on top of that. Football is her passion and that match was an important one (and her final year in the league). And groupwork, well she doesnt want to seem like a slacker and not attend one of the meetings.

So what she does in the end? Writes an email to JpMorgan saying she can't make it due to family circumstances and ask if there is antoerh date she can attend. When of course I have told her usually these companies only hold it once.

Point is I am gettin frustrated with her to the point that I think she is not moving her **** around enough to getting a job. Am I being not understanding I do not know? Or has she got her priorities totally messed up?

I'm sure she'll come across other jobs, but she doesnt have her priorities messed. Family = first, job = second. My dad has gotten so many awesome offers requiring him to move, almost triple the pay if not more, but he refuses because he doesnt want to move us since all our friends are over here. We get by fine with what we have, our house is purdy and well kept, and we dont live in a dump.

Jobs are important, but a job is just a job. Living my life is always my first priority.

While family is important, leaving everything up until a few days away is reckless. You should prepare ASAP, otherwise Murphy is going to bring down his law on you.

I think you guys are drunk.

You should slap her in the face, tell her to lay off the crack, shock her with a taser gun, cram her into the taxi, and get her to the interview.

    ...
    I'm getting flamed, aint I?
