Bry's Ns 1.04 Server Setup!

BorisBoris Join Date: 2002-12-30 Member: 11636Members
<div class="IPBDescription">Info?</div> I thought it might be good to post here about this.

I see a lot about getting 1.04 clients set up...but what has to happen with the dedicated server? Can I just put the original 1.04 server files on and not change anything?

If you can help, please do, and if you have a link to where I can get the info, please post it! I am trying to set up a 1.04 server to run for a weekend!

Thanks,

i ran a lan ns 1.04 server on steam, and the console would say "outdated protocal" every 30 seconds or so, but people could still join and play on it.

its just the ns folder name has to be "ns" or you get "error, divide by zero, ect"

Apparently they didn't like me posting in Bry's forums for some reason:
    <a href='http://www.brywright.co.uk/nsforum/index.php?showtopic=1758' target='_blank'>http://www.brywright.co.uk/nsforum/index.php?showtopic=1758</a>

Oh well, I PM'd Bry himself and I am awaiting a reply...but until then, maybe someone else that has done this can help me out.

    ...Anyone?

just rename your beta 5 ns folder to something else, and install 1.04. the ns 1.04 folder should be named "ns" because if you dont, and you start a game, you will get a divide by zero error from windows when you run the game.

also if you have a dedicated server, the ns 1.04 folder should also be named "ns"

Okay, thanks, I'll do some testing with it!

I guess just dumping the original 1.04 server files into a steam dedicated install works fine.

So I'll be looking to get a date when my server will be playing 1.04. Maybe I'll post it in the general discussion so anyone that wants to play 1.04 will have somewhere to go.

ns 1.04 isnt completely bugfree on steam.

there are numerous graphical glitches related to the minimap. the little blue blips on there start subdividing if you move around.

and the minimap streches as you get closer to the edge of it, but if my memory isnt failing, i think i remember it used to do that on WON also.

Just to bring this back alive...Anyone know if I just dump the latest metamod file (actually not the latest, the latest during 3.0 B5), will I be able to just put amxmodx on there (v1.0) and everything will be peachy?

i dont think that will work, there are alot of code differences between 1.04 and 3.0

most of the plugins made for 3.0 wont work on 1.04, i would just install adminmod on there and find an old version of metamod. 1.16 or so.

i have my 1.04 folder archived on my old server hard drive, i might be able to dig up a couple of maps and plugins that would work for it.
