can i just ask something... exactly what TIME is it going to be released?? because im in australia and its nearly the 5th.... is there gonna be a time difference?
Check it out using the times above the posts. It is currently 7:00am over there and is just 12am (next day) over here in aus. So we are about 17 hours behind. It'll be here at after 5 this afternoon... Something like that. Of course it is 12am here and i'm tired and i could be seeing stuff. Never trust some1 who is tired... they'll always make sure u are confused as they are.
Now how about some BUS info?

I can't believe they're billing a version with such large changes to gameplay as 'final' without seeing how it works in the grand scheme of things. Constie tests have never found all of the bugs, nor have they revealed every gameplay or balance issue due to the size of teams and types of players in Constellation matches.

Yes, we could've gone on testing, and yes, people will find new bugs. But speaking as someone who saw the tests for 2.0 as well as the tests to 3.0 (not to mention 1.0), I can tell you that what we had this time around, while of course far from perfect, was more productive than anything we had so far and I doubt we'll see any 'broken' major game mechanics in 3.0. Why did I make the decision to release, and not go into yet another testing period? Because NS is in a very presentable shape as it is, and because develpment was about to reach a point of stagnation, where no meaningful changes would've been made anymore, and only details would've experienced tweaking. Which is simply a waste of our and your time when we could just as well release a product, allow a good 90.000 players with no previous access to it to play the game, go back to the development of significant changes, and fix arising issues along the way.
Hitreg: As you'll see from the changelog, we claim no novelties whatsoever with the hit registration. The code was severely faulty, and measures to identify the source of the problem would've cost us another two to three weeks, then, we would've looked at yet more time to get it sorted out, and even more to verify it in testing.
NS' future: All bets are off. We know what we will do for 3.1, but after that, no sensible planning can be done. So there is no guarantee that what you see here is the final face of NS on the HL1 engine, though that's certainly a possibility.
As for a timescale, we can' be too sure. I hope for something in the early American evening, but untold last-minute slipups can move that into any direction.
Oh, and since you all are too lazy to read through the full announcement, I'd like to congratulate Marik on his new job

You are welcome..
In answer to some of the questions...
B6 = 3.0 final
Steam updates have not happened yet, we are working with Valve to ensure this happens.. Just not yet.
3.01 is certainly a possibility depending on what happens with testing, however the group of constellation memebers really should be commended on the number of bugs and the quality of reports that they gave this time round.. It was very helpful for the dev team.
As for releasing it to the public first.. How much of a splash would 3.0 be, if it was a pre-released beta renamed?? Not much, considering it would be available all over the place and everyone would alreday be playing it. It makes more sense to release it as a completely new patch so everyone can enjoy the changes together.. If bugs are found then they can be evaluated at that time. But from what I've seen this seems to be a very well organized and tested release.
So enjoy.. and stop bugging me about when it's due out... <jk>

im sooo excited!!! i only found out about the release date about 1 hour ago!!! (should really visit the forums more often). How am i able to wait for 17 hours!!!??? i son't be able to sleep, yet it will go quicker if i do
EDIT: Rad feels likes a very bad person... Misread a previous post. Sorry, and congrats dev team, very well organized, great communication, really looking sharp!
I just wonder how long it will take after the release for NS to be put under the My Games list. Interesting that it will indeed be 3.0 final instead of another beta, but the given explanation is good enough for me.
OMGz0r i am so excited!!! can't wait till it releases.
For the people that dare to have comment on this release: don't forget it's a mod. A modification made by volunteers. It isn't a full game which will cost 50 bucks. People except from mods at least to be as good as a full game.
I'd like to thank every one that made the existance of NS possible! Tnx for making this mod better then most of the other games made by professionals.

Hopefully, for the love of god, they will be smarter than Valve was when releasing the CS:S beta. PLZ don't do it at peak hours. 8 PM PST is an awful time to release something.

I'm just hoping 3.1 (final version of NS on HL1) answers all of everyone's complaints. Such as the Onos...etc
