About The Doom Movie
So im sure you all know about the DOOM movie that is coming out in August 2005.
I heard they are trying to make it into more of a horror/action type movie rather than a straight horror or action movie Kinda like dawn of the dead.
But I just dont get this part.
A correspondent of Novinky.Cz recently attended the Prague set of "Doom" and reported back a well spring of information in regards to the video game adaptation.
Originally, the $70 million film was supposed to be helmed by Enda McCallion. Later, he was replaced by Andrzej Bartkowiak. Screenwriter Dave Callahan claims "everyone was keen to keep the game's atmosphere", though there are some "minor" changes done to the film's concept: The monsters have nothing to do with hell, the plot is not taking place on Mars and "space marines" are not well "space marines" as their outfits are more like SWAT team members.
Wait a min.. stick as close to the game as possible but yet change even the most basic of parts...
The story follows eight marines, teleported into a command centre of a secret base on a remote planet. There, they learn that something strange is happening and soon monsters start to appear. The monsters aren't from hell, but rather people mutated by some nasty super-virus although the monsters look very similar to those in the game.
One character is a technician called "Pinky" who has a cybernetic wheelchair thanks to a bad teleporting accident. Pinky later mutates into something remotely resembling a creature from Doom 3. Producers claim that the film will be more of a horror than an action shooter.
Well thats a relief, I guess, at least the monsters look the same. Dont know about this pinky guy in a wheel chair though.... They coudlnt have thought of anything better?
There will be loads of shooting though, especially in the end where a large number of sequences will be shot purely in "first-person" perspective of the leading character (Karl Urban). The chainsaw and Bio Force Gun do appear in the film.
ooh first person!
This will be interesting.
It starring the guy who played Eomir from LoTR and that assassin guy from the Borne Sumpremacy.
Its also starring The Rock....
*sigh
So anyone else have any comments to add?

Maybe it was a situation of not living up to the standards so the plot had to be dumbed down to be acceptable shrug
Doubleyou Tee Eff?
edit: apparently hes buisy butchering far cry instead
Exactly what i was thinking!
It doesnt sound like too bad a film but its managed to get a few good actors its just a matter of the script being good.
Doomaniac has lost at the internet.
There is no DOOM movie. It never happened. It never happened.

Love that Penny Arcade Comic. But as long as the Doom Movie isn't made by Uwe Boll, it might have a chance at actually having something to do with the game.
Possibly the sole remaining reason to have hope for this movie.

It's okay DOOM. I'll hold you tightly. Renegade will make the bad men go away. And if they don't, I'll kill them all.

As long as you feed him his <s>bleach</s> juice 3 times a day, I don't mind.

On a more serious note, If there is a doom movie does that mean they are going to make doommarine speak? That would be a big mistake, and would ruin the Doom feel I think. I just can't imagine the doom marine using his voice except to express pain or to let me know that he is jumping. However, as it is a movie, I don't see how it can be avoided...
*Soldier was a bad movie.
Constantine had a hell of a lot of Hell in it and nobody batted an eyelid. In fact, its depiction of Hell and the whole business of God and Angels and Satan have far more to do with the the original Doom storyline. In other words, if anyone was going to be offended on religious grounds they would have been already.
Do you also see THIS MAN in your nightmares?!?

wha...?
You dont like it when they do not base movies off the game....
and make it almost exactly like the game?
Does that make any sense or am I just having a mental moment lol
first image from the doom movie.... /me sits in a corner and sobs silently

Oh, and look at the names of the characters http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419706/
Tim and john get their names in the movie as characters, this sould be kinda ironic.
Oh, and their doing ONE thing right!
