If the Aliens are coordinated enough to get 11 skulks into your base at once while no one's around to stop them, you need to start cursing over the voice comm and unplug your computer.

Well you *can*, but assuming just as much organization on the marine side, they can easily take down your hive at the same time, and force you to die from ping of death. A competant commander can still drop a comm chair in time. Remember, an obs decloaks aliens, and if I see 11 red dots in my base, I'd relocate.

indeed, preferably in there current hive.
... wait a minute... that wouldnt work if you had an obs lab... it would uncloak the aliens near the obs... and i have an obs up in 1 minute... this would only work if it was an armslab first comm... this would take an increadably large amount of co-op with the team... i can get a good 75% of my team in the server i play in to do what i say but there is always the noob who doesnt know english or logic...
DC_DarklingJoin Date: 2003-07-10Member: 18068Members, Constellation, Squad Five Blue, Squad Five Silver
I risk it and get armslab first. Then again, indeed, get this done and you are perfect.
Another thing is, we do have a person BUILDING n base now don't we? he either spots them or dies, anywayz if you see a death/kill score for your builder, and you hear multiple sounds, you know its time to hit the CC button and reloc.
Point made previously, but if you have enough teamwork to get 11 skulks together in a pub, then you probably have enough teamwork to win the game no matter what happens.
Unless, of course, the marines counter with the same sincerity of teamwork.
And besides, what happens if 11 marines start shooting your hive a couple seconds before you start attacking the comm chair?
Actually, while this maneuver requires a lot of teamwork, it requires very little individual skill. An alien team could have lost a game because they don't have much skill, instead of winning with this strategy.
I'd say with marines seeking res fast these days, a delayed rush would work really well. Wait like 2 minutes then attack. If skulks are fast enough to kill the cc they could run back and defend the hive?
1/4 we are SO doing this on LM some time. Even if they have an obs, 6-8 skulks in MS at one time all but undetected = a real smashed up MS, and with a few sense in the hive you know that marines are there before they know the hive is there. This strat is brutal when it works. Yes the obs would decloak all the skulks as soon as they got in range of the base, but honestly, you try to kill 8 skulks rushing into MS all at once while you are trying to ammo up your peashooter.
I mean a good com with drop another CC somewhere, but still, eating marine start in one foul swoop is a huge res hit to any marine team, and if you pull it off fast enough all the aliens lose is maby a few skulks and a good few res posititions... which with no IPs on the map for several minutes, should be cake for cloaker skulks to take back.
Why not just get silence? then you got a giant big ball of bouncy skulk death... I mean nobody would hear 11 skulks coming till they saw them, and then they would lose all control over bodily functions.

As to the obs in base.. ive never done it without an obs in base.... but if you pause outside ms (right at obs range) then rush in.... u can hit teh chair in 30 seconds..... At 2 minutes into the game a comm usually feels that 4 mines around teh IP is sufficient.. and isnt constantly scanning base, itll take him a few seconds to notice the red dots on teh minimap (prolly will check after dropping a node or something and see them around teh chair.....
The reason to do cloaking over silence is the only way for this to work is if ur on teh chair before the comm see's it..... you can sneak past marines leaving ms, without them seeing 11 skulks and belting a warning to the comm....
If the map is tanith and 3 marines are walking thru west skylights and another 3 walking down topo hallway... the comm is gonna feel pretty secure that base is cool, thats when u pounce and attack....
Yeah 2 marines in base wont do much.. maybe 3 kills before they kick the bucket..... and that leaves 8 skulks to bite.... but most comms still will be delayed into thinking they can bacon and save the chair, and/or not drop a new one quick enuff...
Yeah the remaining marines could attack your hive.... as you take out thier base...
But when is the last time marines were able to take down a hive without ammo?? yeah they can knife it a bit... but chances are 10 marines arent sitting outside ur hive 2 min into teh game... they are spread out all over tarnation getting resnodes and securing ****......
As to the people who say lots of teamwork... No... there really is no teamwork in this, just following orders by me.... Teamwork is mutual, this is just monkey listen monkey do ****.... and it works
You can run the numbers in your head all day and theorize about how most comms will get a chair down in time or most comm's constantly watch base or have a 7th sense....bla bla bla....
Fact is... this is combat proven to me... with a ~75 percent sucess rate... never failed if teh chair goes down, usually fails if some idiot bites a rine right out of ms and we are forced to rush in as he is beaconing because our cover is blown cuz that idiot wouldng climb on the ceiling and let him go by...
Keep theorizing... ill keep giving commanders hissy fits in game....

if you wanna do the OC bit, you gotta have some good skulks or lerks or something SOF'ing around for the relocation spot. Once you find a few marines clustered somewhere, putting up new buildings, either do the gas bite rush or call in the fades. Meanwhile, the gorges are laming and BBing as fast as possible.
Out of...say...10 players (humor me [that means don't argue about the number, just take it as an assumption]) have 6 do the gorge rush, 2-3 SOF for possible relocations while attacking res nodes/etc, and 1-2 fades doing the same (optional depending on when you do this).
The comm still has to run around and support his players, but they don't have as much resistance. Then, all of a sudden, he has his entire base under attack and everyone who spawns dies instantly. He looks and sees 30 OCs in and around his base, and several gorges BBing his key structures. He has a couple of marines that just put up a node or are near a hive or double or some other good relocation area, so he tells them to build what he's dropping. They do this, are spotted and para'd, and then are zergged.
Basically, it's a forced relocation, then stopping the relocation.
god i love this type of thing. it's just so HILARIOUS to envision 11 skulks gingerly moving out of the way of a marine coming out of base and hiding on the wall. Of course not only do you have to watch out for the obs and scans, but also the paranoid schizophrenic marines like myself who scour every surface for a hidden alien

Screw that, everyone gorge, someone sneak a SC in a good spot near base. Everyone walk in, build OCs, they cloak, hopefully no one noticed, build em, run outside of base, skulk.
Commander beacons ... marines randomly fire at the 6-8 OCs and no one focus fires ... after htey die everyone is now a skulk and you munch that chair.
Winning like this is like winning 80 twenty grueling one hour long matches. Works 33% of the time. You can do it with MCs near MS and celerity gorges. Ph3@r ten gorges with a MC, celerity, healing, and spit.

Well in theory the skulks would all know the obs decloak range and wait outside it until all marines have left. Of course, if the commander does manage to beacon, then you've got a respawn queue 12-skulks long, giving the marines full-reign of the map (the commander can beacon AGAIN to get his marines back to the field without waiting for respawn even if his marines die). This is a do-or-die strat. Of course the commc an also relocate if he is quick enough...it all depends on what is researching and how many buildings he has already dropped.
I used this strategy before with friends back in the days of 2.01, it's nothing new but it requires good teamwork. If you do it early it works. I think it's just a variation of the blitz strategy rather that a whole seperate strategy.
