<div class="IPBDescription">Flatshaded Star Wars goodness</div> <a href='http://www.bruneras.com' target='_blank'>The Battle of Yavin and Endor</a> (and maybe Hoth later, I don't know).

They're arcadish space sims in which you fly around in an X-Wing and blow stuff up. Both of them (especially the second one) give you the feeling of being in a really big space battle. They're also really hard.
They're much more enjoyable when controlled with a joystick, so if you have one, make sure you use it.
Use <a href='http://www.angelfire.com/creep/clan_mccoolness/obo.html' target='_blank'>this</a> to replace the X-Wing firing sound with the "real" one.

And I just shipped off BOTH of my joysticks to the crap winners today thinking I'd never use them again. Gah!
Oh well. :P
<b>SSSMOKIN'!</b>
I installed it, but when I click on link it goes though the loading screen then nothing happens. Not responding..
I looked in readme. It said how u need a 32 bit gfx card etc which I have but the program still wont initialize with some gfx cards. Apparently my nvidia geforce 3 is one of them. Im running winXP too.
I'm downloading now and will play tomorrow... or at least much later today as it's past midnight.
Rebel Assault? Is that the one where your stuck in a certain path, and all you really do is fire? Then no it isn't. Can safely say Battle of Yavin gave me a good 10-15 minutes of fun <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Downloading Battle of Endor now.
*Edit* Put it this way: Battle of Endor has the battles I wish X-Wing: Alliance had. You have to keep Home One, Wedge, Lando alive, as well as covering the rest of the fighters. while somehow keeping yourself alive and taking down Star Destroyer shields. Highest score yet is 200 Ties, yet more keep coming. This guys needs a job at LucasArts or something.
i will have to download this and blow up some starfighters for old time's sake

Certain games have problems with newer Nvidia drivers, and this seems to be one of them. If it's not too much trouble, you might try downgrading your drivers.
Oh, as for getting Tie Fighter and\or X-Wing to run under windows, look into <a href='http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/' target='_blank'>DosBox</a> and\or <a href='http://sourceforge.net/projects/vdmsound/' target='_blank'>VDMSound</a>.
Still haven't won battle of Yavin.
Furthest I got was getting repeatedly gunned down by darth vader... he's a really good shot.

i'll have to try these when i get home. the main problem i have is that it crashes on start with a stack overflow (or something like that) message
oh and yeah we need xwing vs tiefighter 2, and it should have at least 32vs32 capability
Edit: Oh yeah, the controls are really annoying to, not just because it isn't true 3d but because the X-axis doesn't roll. I've caught myself attempting ACMs only to realize this halfway through the would-be maneuver.
Lando: "I need cover!"
Me: "Then don't fly to the other side of the flipping planet you MORON!"
Akbar: "Get your **** back in the fleet!"
Me: "I can't, I gotta save Han's baby and the MORON he let fly it!"
If you can't tell, this game ended in game over because the falcon got destroyed by one TIE fighter. Just one. All because he flew out farther then the damn game would let me go.

Spoiler here, so don't read if you don't want it easy:
What did Luke do on his trench run? He turned off his targetting computer. Look at your control list and you should be able to figure it out <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
