I just had the most fun I've had in NS so far almost. With the patch changes, my alien team won 2x in a row. Once by all rushing thru the vents at start, the second time the usual alien endgame.
I've never before gotten a chance to use an ohno with full powerups. From being 12-12 doing skulk ambushes, I then got 20+ straight kills in a couple minutes before game end.
I love it so far. Might have to start playing marines again now that the game is fair.

Yeah.. it'll take a few days, playing both sides, to see what the total effect of the new patch is. But definitely the aliens are now much more menacing.
Where I think it'll help is in the classic "2 hive / 1 captured" standoff. In a game the other night, it went on for FOUR HOURS in that mode, where neither side was competent enough to break the deadlock. The humans had a crappy commander and just went off on their own, allowing the hive defenders to kill even the gren-toting heavies. OTOH we never were able to bust up enough turret farms to get back the third hive...
The changes will make it so that one way or another those deadlocks won't last, I think.
Here is the real kicker!!!
I LOVE TO PLAY MARINES :O
Now we have a challenge! Its not just walk around destroying things over and over! We now have to think!
I just joined a game were when I joined the aliens were kicking butt! Slowly though we started pressing back and with greater tactics we won the map! (Something like 1 and a half hours :O I'm late for bed! lol)
The marines have a harder time but they still have the easier time in my opinion. The aliens that were fighting us were EXECELENT at working together. I never seen so many fades and lurks together working at the same goal at once. But we had a GREAT commander and edged them out ļ
I will give it a week and see what it looks like then but for now I say GOOD JOB! I salute you! (again)
I like the new patch and my ping is low now (300 ) on servers that are using ping boosters, very helpfull.

I just played a rather long game where both sides were quite evenly matched. Aliens had three hives, and the marines were getting together well with HMGs, only one of us had enough for an onos (btw, I like how the resources don't come as fast now, more time to think and react in a game). The marines, after much fighting, nabbed a hive, and after more fighting the aliens actually took it back!
Previously, if the aliens were in any way losing, the game was over. Now the aliens can still lose one or two areas and with some good playing can take it back. This is because the turret farms aren't end all defenses anymore, a marine actually has to be there and watch it.
Back to the game, about this time the great marine commander had to leave, and replacing him was an okay commander. The marines took a different hive after even more fighting, but before they could establish a base the aliens kicked them out, then came reinforcements and a long drawn out battle ensued. Luckily I had gained enough resources, an took advantage of the third hive being up momentarily to get an onos and made a surgical strike into the marine base and taking out their armory (and dying in the process). That bought us enough time to get the hive up again, and take them out.
I still think the marines would have won if the good commander had remained, but the game was dragging on as each side fought back and forth and the resource nozzles were dwindling. So he had been commanding for some time.
By the way, did I mention the entire time time the teams were even?
Alot of the more experiance alien players have been winning since the second day... i found a group of guys like me then.. as a team i dont think we lost a single one.
The aliens just "evolved" their style of play faster... marines need to catch up.
