Get all the information here...
Alright, so after going around the community and asking, it seems people would be interested in another tournament. I will try to explain everything in this post and hopefully it will take care of all your questions.
-----------------------------------------
// Basics
The goal of this tournament if just for simple competition between teams in Natural Selection. Prizes are still being worked on but can not be guaranteed at this time. This is an event to just bring the community together and allow clans to show off their talent.
The tournament will be a double elimination one. For those of you who don't know what double elimination means, its simple. Team will be seeded according to votes by certain members in the community as well as CAL ranking, once the seeds are determined brackets will be made. In a double elimination tournament you can lose once and still be in. You must lose twice before your team is eliminated, however, the team who wins the Lower bracket (meaning you lost once already) will have to play the Upper bracket winner. Usually in games such as Counter-Strike the Upper bracket team starts with a whole map of advantage. Meaning that since 3 maps are played, the Upper bracket team already has 1 won. So the game starts as a 1-0, all the upper bracket team has to do is win once and they are champions. This system makes sense, however in NS we dont play three maps or at least its not convenient. So we will do what we did last time, the upper bracket team will have a 1 half advantage over the lower bracket team. More details on this as they are worked out.
The more amount of teams the longer and better the tournament will be. The current scheduled date for the tournament to start is: March 28th, 2005. Teams will be expect to play a total of 2 matches a week. First one before Thursday night and second one before Sunday night. More details on this as we write up the rules. Usually however, you will have to report what server you plan to play on 12 hours before match time as well as the HLTV ip (If applicable) so that the NSI admins may confirm and test the server prior to the match.
If we are lent server from teams like the last tournament then we can take care completely of setting up the matches and servers. In order for a match to have a shoutcast we must know the IP to server and HLTV info as well as be able to speak with someone with rcon at least 24 hours prior to the match. Brackets should be up on the 21st of March. Giving you a week to schedule. Last time we were lenient on this issue of scheduling, this time around we will make sure you recieve a penalty for delaying the tournament.
Sponsors/Prizes are still being worked on as mentioned above and I will post more information as I recieve it. Now, on to the good stuff.
// Team Registration
Starting today, March 10th, teams can register with me. To register your team send an email to filemon333@yahoo.com . Make sure that the subject of the email reads: "NSI: Team Registration" if not I won't bother opening it. In this email you must include the following information: Teams name, roster with SteamID's of all players and the name of the clan leader. For this tournament, you will be allowed only the use of 8 players. So make sure they are active, you will only be able to substitute one player out of this roster once throught the tournament. After that they will remain locked and no one outside that email will be allowed to play.
Registration will lock on March 19th at midnight. You cannot register after this time
// Admins
I will be asking certain members of the community to help me be admins, however if you wish to apply as an admin please send an email to filemon333@yahoo.com stating your name, age and past admin exp. The subject for this email should read: "NSI: Admin Application"
// Donators
If you wish to donate and help contribute in any way to this tournament wether its with webspace, a server, a radio server or anything else you can come up with send an email to filemon333@yahoo.com with a detailed explanation of what you can donate and for how long. The subject on this should read: "NSI: Donation"
// Shoutcasters
If you wish to be a shoutcaster you must send me an email once again to filemon333@yahoo.com with your name, past experience with both shoutcast and winamp ( Unfortunately we will not have time to teach people how to set up ), your age and your preference of a partner (Doesn't have to be a person). On this email make sure the subject reads: "NSI: Shoutcast Application"
// Agreements
Wether you are applying to be a Shoutcaster an admin or just registering you team to play you will be sent an email sometime during the week of the 21st with some rules and general sponsormanship conduct that is expected. For admins and shoutcasters it will include information as to what you can and can't do as well as disclaimers (Such as if the shoutcaster breaks a rule or acts inmature we have the right to stop his broadcast and replace him whenever we want, even if its in the middle of a shoutcast.) This doesnt mean you can't have fun as an admin and shoutcaster but once you get the email you will see what is not tolerated. Once you recieve the email which should read: "NSI: Agreement" you will be expected to accept the terms written on there and send it back to myself. This is just a way of making sure everyone is on the same page.
---------------------------------
More updates will come as we progress, the IRC channel, website and admins are our first priority and we are working on those through this week and the upcoming weeks. The website will probably be a simple one but will contain all the information needed. If you have any questions feel free to post here.

A couple of thoughts though.. I'd personally find it hard to cover a game every thursday and sunday, with a strict 8 man roster that could be near unmanageable for some teams.
- i'm sure there are some negatives to this though...
