Though having never experienced Archmedian Dynasty, I have played Aquanox and Aquanox 2.
And while the game itself was nothing incredible, it was innovative, and it had one the coolest/realistic/nonrealistic backgrounds to the story <i>ever</i>. Ever since I read the manual that came with Aquanox, I've been wondering why nobody's been looking into underwater colonization instead of outer space.

Best game ever.. 7 years ago. It has it all, tanks in space, sniper guns, a real time strategy - first person shooter mix that works amazingly, flipping 3 story high mech walkers, artillerty barrages, great singleplayer and quite good multiplayer too.
If you're looking for unrecognized games, look here:
<a href='<font color="orange">Because of the illegal warez or borderline warez status of many supposedly "abandoned" games, links to sites such as this one are currently not permitted</font>' target='_blank'><font color="orange">Because of the illegal warez or borderline warez status of many supposedly "abandoned" games, links to sites such as this one are currently not permitted</font></a>
Not only does it have a large database of good, but unnoticed games, if they can't seem to find any place for you to purchase the game, they put a download for it.
Easy. Commandos II. Probably one of my top 3 favorite games ever. The graphics are beautiful, the missions are enticing, everything about it is just great. Its gotta be my favorite coop game too.
Thank GOD Rellix, you said Arcanum. Great game, great game. Brought back memories of Fallout.
And if it hasn't been said yet, Fallout and Fallout 2.
Didn't see <b>Jagged Alliance 2</b> mentioned either.
NINJA EDIT: <b>Silent Storm</b> pwns, too. Very good, almost unknown game. Incredible physics, destructible environments, setting, and turn-based gameplay. Gets kind of lame once you get Panzerkleins though.
NINJA EDIT 2: Silent Storm is a lot like JA2, but a lot more streamlined (in a good way, you Deus Ex fans).
FINAL EDIT: Didn't mention, lots of Rogue-like games are good. This includes <b>ADOM</b>, <b>NetHack</b>, <b>MAngband</b> (A multiplayer rogue-like), <b>SLASH'EM</b>, and <b>IVAN</b>. Many more, including <b>Decker</b>, but too many to list.
Every Road Rash game up until the N64 version. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Roadrash..that's nastalgic. I wpent so much time playing that I got grounded.
<b>Uplink</b> - Hacker "simulation". Not really but it is really fun. It provides me with hours of gameplay at the cost of 60MB. Not graphically intense but requires thinking, speed, and an evil mind. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
<b>Doom</b> - Maybe already has a buttload of recognition, but at the time people were like "WTH?^^". Simple, fast action, shoot em up gameplay with some demons thrown in. Actually was the game that got me started in gaming (other than Zelda, the original one, where he's red).

Netstorm. If you've played you know this had the most frickin addictive multiplayer. Too bad this was back in windows 95 days, and the game displayed your IP to all the win nuke kiddies.

I'd say Majesty and Crimson Skies. Majesty was an awesome RTS and Crimson Skies was much better than it was made out to be.
It's a old game from Monolith (those who currently are making F.E.A.R) where you play as a *30 foot tall mech or outside it. You can both kill mechs and humans when in a mech and vice versa, it's very animish with blood from ppl u step on cover up half a 8 level building. It has very great graphics from that time and REALLY good animations. Incredible good for only using DX6.

JA2 and Silent Storm were wildly popular, which is why almost everyone has played them. Wait, no, that's retarded. But of course, Rogue-like games are the most popular games out th-... oh, nevermind, no they're not.

For me, it would be Giants: Citizen Kabuto and (I'm loath to say it but it has undeniable appeal and beauty) Ico.
Definitely, shining force 3 (all three scenarios, not just the first) beat ff7, grandia etc hands down.
Virtual On - Incredible versus mode, I spent hours <span style='font-size:9pt;line-height:100%'>(days <span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>(months)</span>)</span> on that.
To continue the saturn trend, Panzer Dragoon Saga was beautiful.

System Shock II, Giants:Citizen Kabuto, BOB1942, The Incredible Machine, Willow the Arcade Game, General Chaos on the Megadrive, every game by the Bitmap Bros, Walker by DMA Design, <b>Exile on the BBC Micro</b>, Cylon Attack on the same, all the SCUMM games, Action Quake II, A-Train, Fire & Ice, Zool, <b>Secret of Mana</b>, the original Syndicate, Wing Commander (only the first two), Tenchu, Commander Keen, Strykers Run, Strykers Run II, Citadel, the Star Wars Arcade, the Airwolf Arcade, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Arcade & Console versions), Final Fantasy III, Phantasy Star I, II & III, <b>Actraiser</b>, Toejam & Earl, Deus Ex, the list goes on.
There's lots of games that I feel didn't get the praise they deserved, because they had enough of an impact on my gaming life, and that of the gaming industry. And those are just off the top of my head.
If you don't recognise a name, Google. You might discover a new love in that list. <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Secret of Mana was nice, but I preferred Secret of Mana III(Which I think is the sequel, oddly enough) because of the ability to choose multiple introductions/storylines, and it looks better.
System Shock II was awesome. I let my friend play acouple of weeks ago, and he was scared. Eventually, he holed up in a corner muttering "hehehehe that monkeys gonna get it if he coes any closer, oh man hes gonna get it.". Good times were had by all.
