<div class="IPBDescription">for ns_prometheus</div> Well, i need a proper skybox, for my asteorid base prometheus
for the map you can look here:
<a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=88462' target='_blank'>Prometheus</a>
The prometheus Asteorid base functions as a subspace communications array and mines rare minerals from the surroundings asteorids for scientitific purposes.
The asteorid field (better ring) orbits a red giant, wich may turn in the next few thousand years into a nova.
In relative proximity to the Prometheus Base, closer to the sun located is the Phenix research base (contains the labs for the material researches, ect.)
The sky can be seen from:
-one hiveroom (the Command hive)
-the stations observatory
-the readyroom
So what qualifies to a proper skybox?
- red sun (large proportion)
- asteorid field ring (in wich the base is located, on 3 of these `roids, pulled together)
(Please no ice asteorids, but rock or metal like)
-space with stars
Optional:
- Phenix research base, also located on 3 Asteorids
- Planets on the background
- Nebulae

Comments
i did a little search by myself already, but i found nothing that matched.
This nebula one on this site might be what you want:

The WadFather has some too:
<a href='http://www.planethalflife.com/wadfather/' target='_blank'>http://www.planethalflife.com/wadfather/</a>
Sadly the FTP of the first one is down, since ui wanted to check a few of them out
the second doesn´t have any space skyboxes.
For the time being anyway <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I tried to work myself into some skybox creation programs but haven´t found one yet to create space scenarios.
Please have a heart with my map
i have no idea about what size it would have to be or if it would have to be tiled for your map, so if u could give some more information it would help

edit: I need to extend my vocabulary >_>
with format 256x256
Only if they wrapped 360 degrees.
Today my brother needs the computer for homework and later I'm selling tickets for the school play. If it's not cloudy tonight, then I'll take some pictures of stars just for the heck of it and use those <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin-fix.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin-fix.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Edit: Left right front back up down? Are you sure you need an up down?
EDIT: Picture updated to include more asteroids and a Gas Giant. Pretend the other one didn't exist; you probably didn't see it anyways.
EDIT 2: Turns out you wanted a red dwarf, not a red planet. No problem; I'll leave the planet in and also add a star.

i like the contrast between the green stars and the gas giant.
And the colour of the gas giant matches very good with the enviroment light in the map, so you don´t really need to make another sun, if you don´t like to.
maybe putting the asteorids a little closer togeter, and maybe even larger, so that they appear more like a belt and you have the feeling, that you are inside that belt.
Maybe making the belt even a ring around the gas giant?
I think that would look great, too!
Absolutly fabulous work so far ^^
