Can't Use Voicecommunication

<div class="IPBDescription">And no, it's not my doing</div> I can use voice comm in every other mod for halflife, even for the source mods.

In beta 5, I could use it for NS as well, but not anymore.

Why, I don't know. Hopefully you guys can explain it to me.

I'm guessing this is a config issue, as there are about 4 different ways to turn off HL voicecomm. What happens when you try "voice_loopback 1"? Do you hear yourself in an echo fashion? Do you see the little voicecomm symbol in the lower-right corner of the screen? And more generally can you hear others over voicecomm?

Moving this to tech support so you can give feedback and so others can respond.

I have the same problem. I can hear everybody else but when I try I get a pic of the voice speaker with a ! in it. It works on all other games/mods but not this one. I don't hear an echo or crackling noise. Any help would be great, thanks. <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/asrifle.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='asrifle.gif' /><!--endemo-->

EatAtJoesLoki and Pinky 7, have you ensured that your Windows volume control hasn't muted the microphone? This can happen for no apparent reason, and it greatly annoyed me, seeing as it took me a few games to realise this. Hal-Life seems to be affected more than any other game for this (either that, or no one else complains about it quite like HL1 gamers do <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

To check this out, go to Start-> All Programs (Programs under Win98/ME) -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control.

This will bring up the Windows volume control, which has absolute control over the sounds produced, and received into the PC. By default, Windows is set up to show the Playback volume of the microphone, but normally has a check in the Mute box. Make sure there isn't a check in the box, then go to Options -> Properties, then change the radiobutton to Recording, instead of Playback. Make sure that Microphone has a check in the box named "Selected", and that the volume isn't right down. Set it to about 75%.

The above steps will master-enable your microphone, and cause any sound captured by it to be fed back through your speakers/ headphones. Just don't get your microphone too close to your output devices, as you will get noise feedback if you do.

Do that, then try tweaking the options under NS

*Edit for slight change, and to encompass Pinky7 (sorry)*
