Forcing New Skins

redirect skin file
Okay so the idea is that you create a map that takes place in a frozen area. It would look much more realistic if the model skin had ice on it. I am wondering if anyone knows of a way to redirect where NS gets the model skin away from models/player/soldier, to a custom skin in a .WAD file

I'm pretty sure it's impossible (without plugins, at least).

Well, it'd point to a new .mdl file(SixString doesn't seem to understand how they work. ), but I strongly doubt NS has functions for that, especially after my several searches through the various map entities.

I understand that it would be linked to a different .mdl file... for some silly reason i was thinking the .mdl file would be included in the WAD... it wouldn't be it would be included in the compressed package.

It has been said that to do it you would have to make a plugin. Do you think it is possible to make a plugin that searches for a soldier.mdl file in models/nameofmaphere/solider. That way the plugin would not be map specific, and it would allow other mappers to create custom rine or alien models.
