Can't really remember how I got into GW... it was either because all the boys were playing with these figures and I was curious or it might've been the punk who lived 3 doors down from us that I talked to that got me into it (he had a huuuuge neon-green mohawk, he let me try his red hair-dye once and it wouldn't come out for like a week :o ). Either way I'd been playing GW from when space crusade came out all the way up to when released the necron... just kinda got bored of it, all the staff I liked at the shop had moved away to target games or something and the new people scared me :p
