Graphics Card Gamma Bug?

I use a slightly higher than default gamma setting on my graphics card, however after playing NS it always resets this value back to default. If I reload my setting as soon as I start up Half Life or any mod it resets it back to default again. This persists until I set my gamma how I want it and reboot.

Its not a major problem just mildly irritating, althought if nvidia released some newer WHQL drivers I would'nt need to raise my gamma.

All games do this to me. It's pretty annoying.
